Hello!

Thank you for your report, however I wasn't able to reproduce this issue. This feature is available only in Experimental mode, can you please check if you have the Experimental mode enabled? We would also appreciate your saved game where this issue appears. You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves. Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

I had this problem, what fixed it for me for a save previous to the latest update was to load the game not from continue but from load.

Just go back into the settings and save the settings you want to play with again, it might have been that I changed a setting from off to on, I think just try to update the save settings should fix it in some sort of manner.

I have this issue too, I tried switching between experimental and vanilla etc., nothing works. When I create a new world it works fine.

photo

Here is a save file with the bug, it worked earlier, but when I try now it doesn't.

photo
1

After some testing, it is not bound to a save file but just randomly decides not to appear. If I host the save, it shows up for other people, but not for me.

Bug happens to me as well. Not just old saves, even new ones. It will disappear midgame, but saving and then reloading fixes it. Happens to me on all of my saves.

Will also add that even when the option disappears, it seems anything that has it checked on will continue to work as normal. You just can't toggle it. But reloading the save brings the option back for me every time.

"Hello,

as stated in the title I'm missing the "Share Inertia Tensor" Option in my dedicated server.

I've tried both Torch and SEDedicatedServer, the Experimental Mode option is checked.

Funny thing is that if I load the game directly with no Server Support, as in an hosted multiplayer game, the option pops back in.

This seems related to the experimental option not working as intended with server support.

This has started right after the last Warfare DLC launch and update

Any help is welcome, I've tried everything I could think of"

This was my original post, flagged as duplicate of this issue, which is not. Or at least not exactly. Oh well...

In the meantime, I've tried creating a new world in SE Dedicated Server, no mod, same problem so it should be easy to replicate.

Disinstalling and reinstalling did not help as well.

Same issue being missing share inertia tensor option, i suppose, there have been other players it happen in there vanilla + fresh new save too

Uff... So, after 4h of troubleshooting I've found my culprit.

The mod Easy Block Renaming (id=2077166496) apparently overlaps with the line in the block menu usually reserved by the Share Inertia Tensor. Removing the mod has restored the option.

I hope that this may help my fellow spaceengs resolving or at least pinpointing their issues.

If you don't have this specific mod try scanning for something that does the same thing or modifies the block menu (adding lines) in any way.

I've tried checking all of my mods to see if any of them are the culprit, and have determined that none of them were. And it seems to be the case for others too.

Some have reported that it happens in unmodded saves as well as saves made in the latest update.

photo
1

Sorry to hear that, I've specified that my case was very specific but the moderator has closed my topic pointing me at this bug report which as stated before is slightly different.

I hoped my solution could work out for someone else since this happens with several mods that change terminal blocks.

Sure Keen has to look at this and fix it, until then we can do very little.

Was instructed to post to this thread as I guess my report is a duplicate of this. Here's my original post:

The Share Inertia Tensor option on pistons and rotors is not saving/loading properly or something on my dedicated server. Experimental is definitely on. Here are some steps I did testing this problem:

1. Connected to server and checked pistons and rotors. No option for share intertia tensor.

2. Shut down server and downloaded the save game.

3. Loaded save game locally on PC. Option for share intertia tensor is present.

4. Save game and upload back to server.

5. Start server and connect to it. Option for share inertia tensor is present.

6. Issue save command and restart server.

7. Connect back to server and option for share inertia tensor is now gone again.

I have done this a few times now trying to troubleshoot the issue and it just appears the process of the dedicated server saving and loading the save does something to make the option go away. This happens with or without mods installed.

Settings I've flipped to see if they matter: enablesupergridding, enabletoolshake, blocklimitenabled

photo

I continued some troubleshooting today. Not sure what changed but now I can't get the option to even show once after uploading the local save. The other day it always popped in once after the upload then disappeared on a restart. Now it shows fine locally but not at all when I upload it.

I have encountered the same bug where Share Inertia Tensor is missing even thou I have Experimental mode enabled in my options.

Most interesting thing is that it is missing in one save-game "Star System - Moon start" but it is available in other save-game "Star System". I'm sharing both save-games in the provided attachment.

Both save games have same settings and same two mods enabled. The only difference that I can think of is that in save-game "Star System" the mods have been added after I have spent some time playing the game, but in save-game "Star System - Moon start" I added those two mods at the creation of new world. Might this be the cause?

Hello, Engineers!

I have been looking into this again today and I have reproduced the issue with the use of a particular mod mentioned by Vito. The mod is 'Easy Block Renaming' Could you please check if you are using this particular mod? If so, as I say this has been successfully reproduced. We will continue to investigate the other issue regarding vanilla worlds. :)

I have been using that Easy Block Renaming mod for a save created in the initial Warfare 1 update and have yet to re-encounter the bug.

In fact, that same save did have the issue, but the issue was resolve after the first hot-fix went live and been free of it ever since. One thing worth mentioning is that the block renaming mod wasn't added when this save was first created, I only added it in afterward (before or after the hot-fix? I can't recall)

It's only the saves that were created pre-Warfare 1 that I'm not sure about. I haven't checked back on them since the bug first occured honestly...

photo
1

Hello, SrammVII!

I was only able to reproduce this by creating a new Star system world and using the mod. That's an interesting addition from you and it will be looked into I am sure now it has been reported :)

Hi,

I am a new player on a complete vanilla install. Experimental is enabled (red warning top right on screen).

I can't get the option on my pistons, reloaded and rebuild, no luck

photo
1

Today I have done some further testing. This time I wen and started a new un-modded game Star System starting on the Moon and the Shared Inertia Tensor option is missing. But if I start a new game Star System starting on Earth or Titan the Shared Inertia Tensor option is present.

So I'm thinking this might be due the fact that when you start the game you start it with a wheeled lander but in other cases you start with a non-wheeled lander.

photo

Same problem here. I removed the mod Build Vision 2.5 then re-added it and now the Share Inertia Tensor option is back. I literally did nothing more than edit the mod list in the save to remove Build Vision then loaded the game, exited without saving, and re-added Build Vision. I have no idea why this worked.

oups nevermind wrong (this site is strangly coded)

Hello, Engineers!

Silvo has been a huge help as they have identified an issue where this happens in an un-modded world if spawning in a Moon drop pod on Star System. I have now reported this internally too. Please double-check if you are starting via this method or, with the mod mentioned previously that has also been identified as an issue. If anyone has further steps for reproduction, please let me know :) I really appreciate everyone's help thus far.

I have nothing much to add, the button just went off, my previous block where I activate still work, so it's just a UI problem, try everything, remove all mod, remove random mod, reactivate them, restart the game, everything.

That disallow almost every use of piston/rotor.

Hello, Stargateur!

Does your situation relate to anything I mentioned in my previous post at all? If not, under what circumstances were you playing? Any extra information would be a great help :)

I've tested this a bit more and it seems to reappear when the mod list order is changed. Doesn't seem to matter what mod or what order. When the Share Inertia Tensor option disappears I just reorder my mod list (I just pick any mod at random and move it up or down) and then reload the game and the option reappears. Very very weird....

photo

Started a vanilla game few days ago, solar system all default, then play more I activate experimental mode, then a lot of time after I try a script, then a mod, then I somehow installed ~35 mods. I needed to activate inertia sharing for a project, no button, confuse. But I don't know exactly when it's disappear. But I don't think it's mod fault, I also have the bug that is marked "fixed" of button UI in script edit that doesn't work normally.

I don't know what I can do to help, I know what you need is a MCVE but hard to made if even me I don't know how to reproduce but I uploaded my save file and log if you want, would be a hint if you don't have the problem loading my save. Thus I have no idea how mod will be share.

@Pargellen didn't work #sad

HS: It's a little disappointing this game have so much potential and is very fun and beautiful but bug and unfinished feature make the experience less enjoyable, the mod have installed are mostly quality of life feature and obvious content that are missing in the game look like a unfinished game, I quite disappointed to have pay the DLC to help (cause really for a unfinished game there is a lot of DLC and there doesn't contains much so it's was just to support the game)

Sorry for complaining HS I needed to say it somewhere. Now I feel better. I believe in this game.

I don't know if this will be helpful for anyone having this issue, but Disabling Experimental Mode, reloading the game, then enabling Experimental mode seems to be fixing it me. Though it only seem to be temporary as it does randomly breaks and I lose the option. But so far, Disable and re-enabling the Experimental Mode has resolved it when it does happen.

photo
1

Based on Thomas' post, whenever the checkbox for inertia tensor disappears I:

- Save

- Exit to Main Menu

- Go to Options, disable Experimental mode

- Drop back to Main Menu root

- Go to Options again, enable Experimental mode, Accept disclaimer

- Drop back to Main Menu root and reload game with "Continue"

- Enjoy the fact that the tensor option is once again available

Above worked for me twice in the past 2 days. I have no idea on what triggers the options disappearing in the first place, but at least now I have a workaround that seems to be working reliably.

I am playing Survival, Star System, Earth Like drop pod. No addons.

photo
1

The process I described above stopped working for me.. :(

photo
1

Hello, Engineer!

Could you please provide context for how your game was setup to get the tensor to be missing originally?

Larua, The only thing I have changed on the Client is enabling or disabling the Experimental mode (I'm always using experimental mode in my server). I do run a dedicated server for my setup. I'm attaching the config file I use on my dedicated server. I redacted anything to do with the Password. It's a pretty default setup. No Mods, nothing really special. A very vanilla setup.

There doesn't seem to be anything in the settings that is causing this. It seems after building for a while, the option just stops appearing when you multi select Pistons.

photo
1

@Thomas

From your configuration I see you allow spawning of planets. Has any of the players playing on your server spawned on Moon? If so did the option for "Share Inertia tensor" disappeared somewhere around that time.

Or even better could you perhaps set up a test servers and then test such scenario with the help of your players?

photo
1

@Silvo

Currently I only have two players on the server (Server is in survival). We both have only Spawned at Pertam. Never on any moons. He isn't on there much and hasn't notice the Share Inertia Tensor disappearing. I have though.

One time it disappeared, I was building a Piston that was stacked one on top of each other using two 90 Degree Conveyors so the Pistons were 180 Degrees so they would to be beside each other (A way to compact pistons and still get a far reach with them). I know the setting was there when I placed the 1st piston.

After adding 11 more, I went back to add them to the Share Inertia Tensor and the option was gone. Didn't matter if I selected one or many pistons. It took me leaving the server, turning off experimental mode on my client, reloading the game, then turning back on experimental for the option to return.

It's almost like the game forgot I was in experimental. I have only seen this happen when I am on the server. Never have seen this happen when I am on a local game (Which I sometimes use to make blueprints).

photo
1

@Thomas

Have you or your friend tried to spawn or tried to project any existing blueprint?

Based on the fact that it is possible to recreate this issue reliably by spawning on Moon where you spawn in different lander than in other starting configurations I'm not ruling out that this might be caused by the way of how existing blueprints or projections are loaded into game.

photo
1

> Have you or your friend tried to spawn or tried to project any existing blueprint?

OOOOOOOO you got something here

photo
1

@Silvo

I haven't tried any blueprints or projections on this server yet. The build I was doing, where I lost the tensor option, was all built on the server with no projections.

photo
1

Dang it! Back to square one then.

photo
1

There's no rhyme or reason as to why the option disappears. I have saves where it's available and some that don't. I use the same mods on all my saves.

photo
1

For me, it happened also on a new save after the update

photo
1

Same here. New save, no mods at all. Experimental is enabled. Share Inertia Tensor is not available to rotors, pistons or hinges. So, it is making playing the game pretty much impossible. I can't build elevators, I can't build solar towers, etc. I have a ship that uses hinges for the landing gear. It shakes so badly that if I just stand there, I eventually fall off because I've vibrated like one of those old vibrating football games.

photo
1

Share inertia tensor option has disappeared for all save games, and does not appear in new worlds. Mods are not loaded. Experimental mode is turned on. Game files have been verified in steam. This function is absolutely critical to my gameplay.

photo
1

if your on a local save try performing a quick reload by pressing f5 without saving prior. i have just done this and the setting has now come back.

photo
1

didn't work for me.

photo
1

Here is my savefile.

Mods in use:

Better Stone v7.0.9

Ore Detector+

Nanobot Build and Repair System (with the hotfix)

Nanobot Drill and Fill System (with the hotfix)

Stone Duster

Tiered Batteries Continued

Thruster+

Drills+

Edit:

starting a new game without mods and spawning on europa (star system), i got the share inertia tensor option back on a piston.

after loading the savegame lala23, i got the share inertia tensor option back too. spawning on earth.

photo
1

What the hell! Nothing worked except loading your lala23 save. Now share inertia tensor is back everywhere else!

photo
1

I've tried everything in this thread including downloading other saves and I absolutely cannot get "Share Inertia Tensor" to appear. Experimental mode. Disabled all mods, nothing. New save, no mods. Nothing. Experimental mode turned off, then back on, restart, verified integrity, every single thing in this thread and it's gone. I've attached my world file with a drilling rig that I was in the process of building that just ends up exploding because I cannot access that feature.

photo
1

There are so many report on the problem, and not one of them match eachother. It's as confusing as a bag of mixed beans...

The way it got my own save fix is just as weird, since I didn't do anything and the tensor option just happen to reappear after the first hot-fix for Warfare 1 (save created in Wf1)

The short of this whole issue can be boiled down to - It can happen at any given moment, no matter the condition, be it vanilla or modded. Can it be fix? Idk? Do you feel lucky?

photo
1

I suppose I've resigned myself to not playing Space Engineers again since this bug appears to be a permanent part of the game now. Keen won't address it, so it's here to stay. I will let all my acquaintances know that the game is broken so they should stay away from it. It was fun while it lasted, though.

photo
1

I have the same problem and it was there till the last update.

photo
2

Hello, Engineers!

I´m happy to announce you that this issue is already fixed and will be introduced to the game in upcoming major update.

Same bug, but on xbox beta. I have 2 other ones, but one is xbox as it is a syncing issue they know about and the other is disabling PCU limit of a world will make you unable to load the world, acting like the PCU limit is 0 instead of unlimited.

photo
1

I was able to reliably workaround this issue in case of particular broken save:

1. Removed all "red" experimental values from all parts. In case of SIT, save file edit and sbsB5 deletion may be necessary. (<ShareInertiaTensor>false</ShareInertiaTensor>)

2. Reload edited save

3. Save

4. Reload again

5. Share Inertia Tensor checkbox available.

photo
1

I am still getting this bug in my games. I've tried reloading the games several times and the issue is still there. I was actually going to get on the forums and ask if it was removed...

photo
1

Tried to fix the bug several times and I had it while starting off a new brand world too. It happens to appear sometimes if your world or grid has no pistons or rotors which already have that option available. If you remove all the pistons/rotors and place them again then it shows up. If you reload the game without having them and come back in, then there is a chance that it will disappear if you place a piston or rotor. Reloading, saving or turning off and on the experimental mode doesnt work one bit.

photo
1

Update: I tried to put a piston in a safe that has the option and then left it there, reloaded and its gone. So it doesnt matter if there are pistons enabled with it or not, it will just not show in general

photo
1

Imma add my world for the devs to possibly look into it. Since it works in other worlds but not this one it could help to post the world for them to look at it.

photo
2

This bug has been "fixed" so many time already it's the bug the most "fixed" in the history of game. How hard is to code a button ?

Still present BTW.

photo
1

I managed to get it working by saving my game and going back to the main menu. Clicked Options > Game > Mod.Io Consent > I Agree. Reloaded the game and the option 'Share Inertia tensor' now shows. Weird!

photo
1

I really believe this bug has more to do with mods then an issue with Keen. Everytime I have experienced the issue, removing addons has brought the "share inertia tensor" option back. For example, today I had the issue and all I did was remove Build Vision from the game and the option returned. This has been the same everytime I lose the option, find the offending mod, remove it from the save, and the problem is solved.

photo
1

Hello, Engineer!

The fix for this is in v200

Thank you.

Kind Regards,

Update 1.200 states:

"Fixed Share inertia tensor option visibility being overridden incorrectly, making it disappear for certain mod and vanilla situations"

I don't know what you actually fixed but I have this self same issue.

New computer, new install, vanilla install (not experimental), zero mods, solar system w/- earth drop pod.

photo
1

You need to have experimental checked to see the tensor option.
