[1.187.088] Shadows are completely broken amd gpu

Roman Makarov shared this bug 6 years ago
Solved

Version: 1.187.088

Spec. i7-6700k (stable for 2 years overclock), vega 56 (defaults, 18.7.1 driver), windows 10

artifacts differs on different shadows qualities but all are making game unplayable for me.

With shadows off it's okay during day but very bad at night.

Persist with experimental mod on/off

Hello, I have an older AMD card (HD 7950) on the same driver version with the same windows 10 and the same graphical settings on the same map and it is not happening to me. Granted it could be just happening on the modern vega AMD GPUs, however have you tried deleting your shadercache? Paste this (without quotes): "%appdata%\SpaceEngineers\ShaderCache2" to your windows explorer to locate the ShaderCache2 folder and delete the files inside of it.

Other than that I can only help you by suggesting doing a clean reinstall of your graphics drivers.

I hope this fixes your issues and if not, feel free to let me know.

At least we know how to reproduce it. Feel free to contact me if you need any assistance/testing

Vega user, same issue here. A workaround i've found is turning the astronaut's suit lights on during the day.

I have a vega56, RX480 and 7970 all had the same issue
