Server is not responding for 1/6 players

Won't Fix

Hello i have to report a issue with connection to a private dedicated server.


Few of our players cant join. They can search it, they can check list of players, but 1 second after joining "server is not responding" appears. We've made a lot reseach but nothing could help.


We've tries with port forwarding, disabling antivirus, firewall, changing network, VPN, reinstalling steam and updating system.


One diffrence is that players uses Windows 7 instead od 10.


Moreover they can join other servers but not ours.

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. Firstly, Is it possible to please see a log from an affected player? Just to confirm are you only having issues with players that have Windows 7 or, is it both?

  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Yes, only windows 7 users. I can disable mods and check it at 3 AM (gmt+1) and send you results at the morning

Hello Laura,

We've made 2 tests.

1. We've turned off mods and leaved current save. - no progress, they still cant join.

2. We've turned off mods and deleted current save - it worked, they connected.

@2.1 Recently... Before started hosting server on dedical, we've hosted that server by private computers by game side, and they then could join game by steam.

I have an idea to try load again current save and mods after few joins by my players. Maybe server now will pass them after... First connections from their accounts.

Thank you for this. So it seems if I understand this correctly, deleting the save worked and they connected. The issue is happening only with the single save and with the mods disabled? If this is the case, could you please supply a copy of the save file?

  • You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.
  • Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Problem is with Save with and without mods at dedicated server. At PC, when someone of us are hosting problem is gone.


At dedicated server only delete and re-gen new World helps(without mods).


Ill send you save files in... 4-5 hours

Is it possible you can delete the dead bodies of those that can't join? This has been a previous issue and wanted to rule this out.

You also say that when some of you are hosting the issue is gone? This means it is totally narrowed down to the single dedicated server yes PC? Could you also please supply the server settings you are using? Finally, I know a really silly question to ask but can you also double-check these users aren't set up as banned or anything like this on the machine? It has been done before but appreciate it's always silly to ask :)

At PC hosting we have no troubles with anyone

At Dedicated Server we have troubles with it. Dedicated server isn't physically in our city.

Hello Laura,


Any progress? We've made new save with mods, and it worked, but there is not solution for future of our server. We cant making new saves each time when someone could not join. Im afraid that save is corrupted and we need to find a source of this bug.

Hello, PeterovAZR!

There are a couple of things. Firstly, it really does sound like the problem is with the dedicated PC if you're not having it anywhere else. If you were having it at another location (which I don't think you are?) I would say it could be an issue with the save or something else. Secondly, we ask as a minimum requirement to have Windows 10 rather than Windows 7 sadly. With regards to the bodies, you should be able to locate these in the entity list. Are you able to locate them through there? :)

Hello Laura, we've made another test. I've got access to one of accounts of our players for testing connection. I can join from my PC to server, but my player with win7 could not, even after my log in from my PC. I still think its OS problem, because if it would be dead bodies problem, even I should be not passed in server. I've checked all entites and grids. No bodies. They are despawning after few minutes.

Thank you for the reply. If you believe it points to an OS problem, unfortunately as mentioned before our minimum requirements for the game are Windows 10. I'm really sorry about this. If you believe the issue points to something else, then we would look into what the cause is but WIndows 7 is below our minimum requirements.

Just to follow up with the above comment. One of our testers had a look as they have Windows 7. They were able to connect to their dedicated Window 10 server without issue which may point towards either an issue with your dedicated server PC or the users trying to connect as mentioned before.
