Saving is broken, "saving" does not "end", though it may complete

Won't Fix

As of 1.196.013, Saving (both auto, manual, and Save As) starts, but does not end. Sometimes it will complete (able to be loaded), sometimes it does not finish starting (only the previous save is available). This leads to MANY issues, such as: Auto-Save no longer functioning (Cannot save - already saving), regular save no longer functions, Save As MIGHT function, but does not fix the bug in that instance of the world. When the game is in this state of limbo, exiting the world causes it to soft-lock/freeze on the confirmation screen.

Thank you for your report. Unfortunately I wasn't able to reproduce your issue. Could you please try to verify your game files in Steam and reinstall the game eventually? Please let us know if it helped you.

Steps to reproduce:

Host multiplayer session, have at least one player join (individual save file is almost 200mb)

After roughly half an hour of playing normally and it autosaving normally, just walk away from the computer. While the game is running, connected players will start to have issues, stemming from an Autosave not completing (possibly due to the game on "standby" if that's a thing, pretty sure it also goes into "standby" when the window is minimized/not in focus).

Just now verifying files- taking FOREVER so I'll reply to this or edit depending on when another reply happens, or the game running into the save errors, or anything else fishy.

Edit: Verification complete, all files A-OK. I'll be running my usual daily evening multiplayer session tonight, I'll try to figure out as much as possible and if it crashes/freezes, I'll take a look at the logs.

I read that the Nanobot Build&Repair mod may cause this, but I didn't have this issue before the SotF update in this world, nor in my last world with it.

As I see, this thread is rather old now as the last comment. Can I please ask if you are still experiencing it even nowadays and on current game version (v198)? Or did you fix it yourself by excluding the said mod from the gam/saves?

Removing the mod hadn't stopped the issue from occurring, as of about a month after my last post.

I do not know if it still occurs, as my friend I used to play with shipped off to boot camp, and it only happened after an hour or so. I also have a different internet provider, and haven't played for longer than ten minutes since then.

My apologies for not being able to provide any confirmation for either case.

no worries :)

Since you are not playing that much lately, and can not confirm or disprove that the issue is still happening, I will close this thread. It would be really hard for us to hunt the issue down like this; especially not knowing that it is really still happening. Hope you understand.

If you will come back to the game, start to play again and this issue will start to happen to you again even with new internet provider, in the new world, alone or with other players etc., please open new thread providing all (new) necessary information (possibly linking this thread as well).
