Rotors are possessed by Clang when trying to set angles...

Suicide Neil shared this bug 6 years ago
Won't Fix

As title, rotors sometimes ignore the maximum / minimum angle, or will rotate in the opposite direction when attempting to to adjust them by only 1-2 degree. For example, you want the rotor to be 45 degrees, is currently at 44, so you raise the upper limit by 1 degree; the rotor will spin through 359 degrees in order to reach the correct angle regardless of the rotor direction that is set.

Another more serious issue that has not been addressed in 5 years; the slider bars in the K menu for Rotors is far too sensitive, and the actual selected rotation speed does not remotely match the actual rotation speed ( real speed is several times faster than selected speed ), and trying to select the desired angle is far too sensitive resulting in the rotor violently changing direction or jerking to quickly. We need a longer slider bar, or one that doesn't move as fast ( dragging the slider isn't instant, has lower DPI as such ) in order to reduce collisions caused by possessed rotors flailing wildly.

Lost a whole mining rig when I was setting up some rotors on the expanding drillhead. Took out a nearby parked vessel with it.

I was setting up rotation limits and the rotor had the finest idea of rotating the whole way around at light speed which, as could be expected at that point, made a clang and a boom.

Rotors were stopped at the time but were toggled on.

Hello,

Can you upload a blueprint with steps to reproduce it?

For the second part, I tried the speed and it seemed to be ok, also if the slider is too sensitive you can use Ctrl+LMB to set exact value and you don't really need to slide with a slider.

Thank you.

Hello Engineers,

Since there are no new comments in this topic and we are still not able to reproduce it, we are closing this thread as outdated.

In case anyone is encountering the same or similar bug, which is not already posted in a different thread, please feel free to create a new thread with all relevant information.

Thank you.

Hardly outdated.

Happens to me every day, happened yesterday.

After talking to others i know its not outdated, just people stopped complaining bcos it has no effect.

You never fix anythingh. And players have adopted to the situation by taking it as a part of the game and playing along, always rebuilding what gets destroyed. And keeping it to themselves.
