Precise Rifle Wrong Aim (probably all rifles)

RDG D. shared this bug 5 years ago
Won't Fix

Upon testing the precise rifle, the projectile actually hits above the aim as you distance from the target, even at small distances. Upon trying to hit targets 500m+ away with it, and in fact, with every rifle, it seemed that it would never hit, thats because as the distance increases, at very least with the precise rifle, the bullet impacts above the aim, and this deviation increases with the distance, however, it does not seem like a simple bullet deviation, it looks a pre-determined pattern always hitting above the reticle, increasing with the distance.

Excellent! was curious to know if it was only me with this issue. Basically the game, for me anyway, is unplayable since I can't hit the broadside of a barn wall at point blank range with the guns not firing as they should, it has already cost me a LG rover and several hours of loss in Escape from Mars, I hope KSH notices this issue quickly since I am holding off playing SE scenarios and engaging in combat until it is fixed, cheers.

Surely me and RDG D aren't the only ones dealing with this issue?

wow! i guess you and I are the only ones that have rifles that don't fire where you aim them. Still not confident to play Escape from Mars since the scenario relies quite heavily on combat to progress. Maybe it is because I am in full window mode? or some other personal non default setting?

apparently people dont care about the rifles accuracy much, survival doesnt seem to be taken very serious in SE.

the rifles are just not accurate as it should at long ranges, sure its usable at short range because it will be spraying all over, but since they're technically able to hit as far as 800m, well... you wont be hitting anything really.

plus, this is not an issue you'll find out much about with vanilla game because you frankly wouldnt need the rifle much, only mods that would add more enemy ships, specially ones that dont try to ram your face and stay far for several reasons would make this problem much more apparent... so.. yea...

gotta say that while i respect keen a lot, i mean, been playing since 2016, i don't think this is something to be deemed 'considered' but rather needs urgent fix, cause its a core feature not working properly.

Yeah, just wow, it is depravingly sad atm. I still manage to take over ground installations but with much greater difficulty. Still shocked that this blaring/obvious bug is so under addressed 0_o, clearly what you say is correct., Baffled.

This is still an issue as of 1.194.082 and it's even worse than shown above. Sample in this thread:

Damn! that is frustrating to watch. My experience exactly. Just curious, I am using windowed full screen, are you too? I wonder if the aim returns to normal in full screen? It shouldn't matter however, bullets should go where you aim them whether in full screen or not.

I only play in full screen.

still not fixed or corrected to this day, still impossible to use any rifle reliably.
