Offline play stopped working after 6th Anniversary Update

Feddas shared this bug 4 years ago
Not a Bug

Repo steps.

1. Start Steam in offline mode

2. Start Space Engineers version just before 6th Anniversary Update

3. Continue a saved game

Observe: saved game loads without issue

1. Start Steam in offline mode

2. Start Space Engineers with 6th Anniversary Update

3. Continue same game you were playing in before 6th Anniversary Update

Observed: Game will not load. Get message "Error: No user is logged in to the Steam service". See screenshot here: https://imgur.com/a/qOz5co0

Expected: Game to load.

This is likely a duplicate bug report, I'm just not sure which one: https://support.keenswh.com/spaceengineers/general/search/offline

Hello, Engineer!

It is not possible to start saved game which is set to anything else than offline in Steam offline mode. Saved world you are trying to start must be set in some other mode.

If you do not see any saved games in load game screen, you can manually add them to the folder in windows:

  1. Go to this foler: C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves
  2. There should be 2 folders (1st with your SteamID - this is where regular saves are saved, 2nd should be called "123456789.." - this is where saves you make in Steam offline mode are saved)
  3. If you copy world file from 1st folder to the 2nd, you should be able to see that save int he game

Now if only you could show us how to do this with mods, or, I dunno, fix it? Instead of giving annoying workarounds that can be easily fixed

This is a Bug, please fix it and make it work like it used to.

Being forced to manually move the save files is ridiculous, this used to work, you could just load the save file just fine when in offline mode without having to move the save files to a completely different location, please, please, please fix it.

Thanks, That seems to work!

A bit un-intuitive, but now anyone with the same problem can stumble on this thread.

Also weird it worked without the folder move before the 6th Anniversary Update. Maybe there's just some clean-up on the saved games that major patch did.

Either way, thanks for the great instructions on the work around. :-)
