Not registering mouse clicks

Hi i have just purchased the game via Steam, and have yet to physically play it! as the mouse clicks wont register on the main menu, I have weighed in on a similar bug report that i came across (link below)

Troubleshooting i have tried:

Downloading an older beta

I have updated all of my graphics drivers, win10 and steam.

A Reddit user suggesting i try changing some settings manually in the config, such as trying different window modes and mouse capturing. (again link below)

unfortunately all to no avail.

I am running Windows 10 with 16GB ram a GTX1060 6gb
