New Weapons' Damage Inconsistent between Multiplayer / Single player

Elor Yosnak shared this bug 3 years ago
Solved

What it says on the tin really.

During testing in single player, all weapons (possibly only all rifles but I can't 100% confirm that) deal significantly less damage than in an online game. There don't need to be multiple players, but as long as the game is an online game with the potential for people joining, the weapons seem to do (perhaps correct?) damage, as opposed to woefully low damage in single player.

For an example, in single player, the precise rifle is equivalent to the basic pistol in terms of damage per magazine. in multiplayer, the basic pistol is the same, and the precise rifle almost twice as good.

I believe headshot damage to target dummies may also not be applying in (my) single player games, but I'm not sure if that's just the overall lower damage or actually a separate bug.

Hello, Elor,

thanks for letting us know about your concern.

However, when I did try it in various games - SP, Lobby MP, DS - and with all the weapons on the same shooting range, my results were more or less the same in every game mode. It surely depends on how precisely you shoot the bullet, from what distance etc.

My measuring was like this:

Have the shooting range ready, one dummy for each weapon. Spawned every weapon and enough magazines for it. Shoot to dummy for so long till the dummy breaks. And upon dummy was destroyed, I count the magazines/bullets used. As I said this number varied a bit, but that was happening also on second test on the same game mode (e.g. once I shot 33 bullets from S-10 to dummy to destroy it, second time it was only 31. On MP it was 29 and 30.). When comparing the assault rifles, the difference were even lower in bullet count.

I would not say that there is some drastic difference in the weapons damage in SP/MP in the current state, from all the info I have and tests I have done. If you have some other way how to test this, and you can support your theory even with the video, showing how big the damage difference is, that would be great!

Thanks in advance for your reply, for additional info how this issue can be observed in the game and for the video showing the difference as well.

Kind Regards

Is it possible that this is a new versus old world issue? Having done some tests on a new world it appears that that functions fine for me as well, but the older test world that I had originally set up is giving me issues. I will try to upload a video in the next comment as soon as I can.

For a simple test I can speak to: on my older world, a full magazine of precision rifle takes 5% off of a light armour block. In the newer world, it takes 25% off the light armour block.

Is there any way to find out just how old my world version is?

Hello,

thanks for coming back so quickly.

Well, if this issue happens only on old saves, old worlds, then the issue would be less severe, but still worth to take a look on. Video would still be nice and helpful.

Unfortunately, no. I don´t think there is a way how to get to know on which version of the game the save was made the first time. The game version information is updated in the sbc files as well, as soon as the save is loaded in newer version of the game.

Kind Regards

Well as embarrassing as this is I think I'm going to have to ask for this post to be marked as either resolved or unfounded, as I can't replicate the issue on any world file except the one that I originally found it on, and the world file that I originally found it on appears to be corrupted. Making a copy of the world is possible, but is unplayable. It seems the issue is fully isolated to this one situation, possibly caused by a mod or something else that left a lasting impact on the world, but as I can't replicate the issue on even duplicates of the same world, it looks like I got ahead of myself.

Thanks very much for your help, and sorry about this!

Hope you have a great day and Thanks again.
