.NET Framework error

Offonoff shared this bug 2 years ago
Won't Fix

First, let me say I really do enjoy the game. If I seem a little upset, please forgive me, this issue is driving me and my friends a little nuts.

Launch the game, works fine the first time.

Close out the game (work, sleep, take your choice), come back after a few hours it will start, click on single play or server, and I get a ,NET error (one of which is below)

If this was one or twice, I would not be too upset, but this has become a rather frustrating problem and constant.

Attached is the email chain (your Q/A said to send the email)

a few windows event logs

and two of the SE logs from the Roaming folder

Application: SpaceEngineers.exe

Framework Version: v4.0.30319

Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.

Exception Info: exception code c0000005, exception address 00007FFCE6B39CF6

Hello, Offonoff,

thanks for sharing your issue with us.

To say the truth, I did never experience the same behavior as you are describing. But you have few options, how to fix this issue yourself.

First of all, judging from the error that you are experiencing, try to reinstall VC Redist 2017.

If this won´t work, you still have few other options what to do:

Verify your game files in Steam - right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files

Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file - it means your game configuration will be deleted - you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Delete ShaderCache folder

Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it

Restart Steam

Update graphic drivers

Reinstall the game

Make sure your operating system is fully updated

Hope some of these solution will work for you.

Please let me know.

Kind Regards

... First... This was completed twice

... Verify Files... This was completed six times

... Delete CFG... This was completed on three occasions

... Delete ShaderCache... This was completed twice

... Update Graphic Drivers... 4 times

... Reinstall the game... 3 times

... OS Updates... I do not run a program unless the OS is fully updated

I have attempted all of the cases you have given. The problem still persists.

NOTE: If I keep trying to run the game, it will eventually send a crash report, after the report has been sent, the game will run properly (very strange)

Hello, Offonoff,

I can see that you didn´t try to delete the whole Roaming/SE folder. Or did you and just forgot to mention it here?

You are saying that it is happening when playing online and offline as well... when online are you the one hosting the game/running the server or some of your friends does and you are just connecting?

What happens exactly after this error appear? Am I right to assume the game will crash to desktop? When you try to run the game right after the crash, are you able to get to the Main menu, or will the game keep crashing and not even launching?

Does it matter what game type you are running? Offline, Lobby Online (through the game - New game - Custom - Online mode), or does it happen even when trying to run/connect to dedicated server?

Thanks in advance for any additional info that you can share.

Kind Regards

Sorry about that, I have been occupied with work for the last three weeks.

Yes I did delete the Roaming folder, a couple of times.

No, this only appears to happen when I played Online. I had a dedicated server running on Host Havoc. I have since wiped the game and loaded a base game. This may end your support, but to be honest I have lost interest.

There are a few things that might happen, it will either crash to the desktop with no error displayed, crash to the desktop and generate a crash report that gets sent to your teams, or it will simply lock up forcing me to end the process from the task manager. Something of interest I had found before I moved on to other things, If I could get the game to generate the crash report, the game would start with no problem.

Hello, Offonoff,

you think it´s possible to share the logs after the crashes? Or is it still the same log/error/exception as in the body of this thread?

Does that mean that the game crash and:

1) nothing will happen - no "Send crash report" window appears and you it is crashing from this time on for couple of next tries?

2) if you actually get the "Send crash report" window and you do so, you are able to run the game the next time you try?

Both 1 and 2 happen, it is not consistent. Most of the time #1 is the case, the game unloads with no interaction at all, no warning, no messages, just exits back to the desktop.

After #2 happens (once the crash report window finishes after I hit Send) the game will load and run without an issue.

Let me see if I can replicate the problem again, I had set the server back to default about a month ago.

Hello, Offonoff,

well... I did re-open this thread as you asked. But can you please at least reply my on the questions that I had? When you do not provide more information, I have nowhere to actually start the investigation.

So please... can you read my last comment and answer all the given questions there? That might be definitely good starting point.

Thanks.

Howdy Ondrej,

Lets just go ahead and close this one. I have moved on to other games. Since this is not my job (I code items for a different product) I do not have the desire to dig into this further.
