merge block does not work in Station mode
In Ship mode, it works normally
In the current mode, the block is locked and cannot be moved even after its unlocking

I have the same bug
when merging a ship with a station it transforms into a station.. you might have unsupported stations enabled in the world settings and it wont transform in a ship again until you manually hit convert to ship
