Medical Room Behaves Incorrectly When Pulling Hydrogen and Oxygen Through Conveyor Sorter

When using a conveyor sorter, hydrogen and oxygen will flow through to other blocks in the direction of the sorter, as will components and ores. However, the medical room block will pull neither hydrogen nor oxygen from connected tanks or generators if the conveyor sorter is directed towards the medical room. If the sorter is reversed, however, the gases will flow through correctly, but then the gases will not flow through to other blocks such as tanks.

I believe whatever method the medical room uses to check for connected inventories is somehow reversed when using the sorter, as it should be able to pull the gases if other blocks can.
