Mayday signals and space pirates missing

I've been flying towards Mars from earth for about 4 1/2 hours and have yet to see any mayday signals or cargo ships. Before the frostbite update I would see them at regular intervals of about 1 or 2 every 3-4 minutes

I had the same error several times, but not immediately after starting the game. It was an hour or two when everything was fine, but suddenly I found myself alone.
