Loss of Inventory

Hey,
I am really confused with something that happened while I was playing with a friend on my own personal world. I had the world open so my friend could play and was tabbed out of the game, but did not close the game and when I came back all of my inventory was gone. I know that if you disconnect from the game without being in a Cryo Chamber this is supposed to happen, but I don't understand why it happened to what would be considered an AFK player as they may just be waiting for something to finish and be doing something else outside of Space Engineers. Thoughts?
