Load wont load in offline mode using local mods

Uneasyarcher shared this bug 3 years ago
Solved

After the warfare 1 update my saves wont load in offline mode. I assumed that it was my game install so i reinstalled my game and i had the same issue. Then i proceeded to update all my mods from the workshop and I had the same issue.

Please help i really need those saves because I'm using one for my SE survival series

Hello, uneasyarcher!

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. Just to clarify, can you load your save if you remove the mods? Is it strictly the mods causing the issue or are you unable to load the game if these are removed? And just to double-check, are your mods currently saved locally?

  • Verify your game files in Steam
  • Right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files

/bfSnH0rGoN-NgctSWBJN3LfvWZvgnfye9BrPgucxV0n8TDpNc-7yZYwSifdRXyl1quu20KGUNmHzSf6VGRbhWS4a_EYn2MclxJSOz6eVarmz-fhTWVaofVOAVZN_l_leF9dgQ5GF

  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file
  • It means your game configuration will be deleted
  • You can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

I would suggest our usual steps in between just to see if this clears anything up for you. Please let me know how you get on and also helping with the above questions :)

Hello, uneasyarcher!

Thank you for clarifying. Would it please be possible to supply a copy of one of the saves that is not loading for you? I will try it locally to see if it will load for me.

  • You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.
  • Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Hello, uneasyarcher!

Thank you for the files. Just to check from an earlier post, are you able to load your saves without the mods? Is it purely the mods that then cause the issue? For instance, if you removed them will the game load without issue?

When loading local mods in offline mode, (this means NO internet.)

the loading screen fails wwith the following error:

Exception occurred: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Experimenting with the .sbc files shows:

This will NOT load

<Mods>

<ModItem>

<Name>modname1</Name>

<PublishedServiceName>Steam</PublishedServiceName> (remember, LOCAL mod. not from steam.)

</ModItem>

<ModItem>

<Name>modname2</Name>

<PublishedServiceName>Steam</PublishedServiceName>

</ModItem>

</Mods> (This is what .198 writes to the .sbc)

This WILL load

<Mods>

<ModItem FriendlyName="modname1">

<Name>modname1</Name>

</ModItem>

<ModItem FriendlyName="modname2">

<Name>modname2</Name>

</ModItem>

</Mods> (This is the way .195 writes to the .sbc)
