Invisible blocks in 1.198.033

William Walker shared this bug 2 years ago
Reported

After logging out in a new cryo pod for the night I logged back in to find huge chunks of my base missing.

After stepping out of my pod, some of my base began to reappear, while other parts disappeared. After spending some time on this, it seems that unfinished interior wall blocks are the only blocks effected. If I finish them, they remain visible. If I place light armor blocks instead, they are visible. Everything works fine, it's just unsettling to see my windmills hovering in mid-air but they're happy to spin away and give me power.

The blocks will render within three-blocks (~7.5m) of me, unless I'm in a small grid craft, then they won't render at all. Screenshot attached.

Hello, William,

thanks for letting us know about this concern and we´re sorry that you are experiencing it.

However, when I did try it, I´m not able to reproduce this issue.

You think it might be possible to share me the save file of the world where this behavior is already broken?

You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.

Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Do you use any specific graphical settings in your game? Or just defaults low/medium/high details?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Kind Regards

The game files are not there. Is this because it's a dedicated server? I do have control of the server, so if you can direct me to the relevant directories, I can pull the files from the server for you.

My graphics settings are as follows:

Custom

Model Quality - Extreme

Shader Quality - High

Voxel Quality - High

Texture Quality - High

Shadow Quality - Extreme

Anti-aliasing - FXAA

Anisotropic Filtering - 16x

Field of View - 70.0

Flares intensity - 1.0

Grass draw distance - 1,000m

Grass Density - 4.0

Tree draw distance - 3,000m

Ambient occlusion, damage effects, and postprocessing are all enabled.

Hello, William,

thanks for coming back and for sharing me the graphical settings, it was helpful!

It also turned out that I did not wait long enough for this issue to actually start to happen after leaving the game, so upon trying it today (after night off), it begun to happen to me as well.

The issue is already in our internal system.

Kind Regards

i may have found something out. i just logged into a server and started placing interior walls (survival) and the bug is happening to the newly placed blocks as well.

extra note: moving far enough away to unload the affected grid and then going back to load it again, seems to fix the bug.
