HUD will not display upon loading or joining a world.

relaunching the game, or relaunching my computer does not fix the problem, i can still mine and interact with blocks and voxels, but i can't place blocks.
I have the same bug
side note: the text box for leaving a comment, and the non-title box for leaving a report do log key strokes, but they dont show any text until the report is submitted. (hence the 6 edits of this report)
