Grid center of mass does not update on player moving around inventory in it

Reported

Found in version: 1.97.075 default

(Creative Mode, No Mods, No Experimental - also confirmed to occur in Survival, with Mods and Experimental)

Steps to reproduce:

1. Build a two-axis symmetric non-station grid like this with four large cargo containers connected by conveyors (solar panels supplying power for them):

58b6b698b3d6f246f82f3a777d8e83a8

2. Turn on "Show center of mass". The marker for the grid should be in the center of the cross.

3. Spawn 999,999 units of a any ore and load one of the large cargo containers with it. Observe that the center of mass immediately jumps to the side of the container you filled.

4. In the inventory UI of the grid, drag the whole ore to a different container. Observe that the center of mass does not move to reflect its new location.

Further observations:

- When you now drag the whole ore from the new container back to the player's inventory, The center of mass immediately resets

- When you only drag a part of the ore back to the player inventory (either using RMB to drag or Crtl/Shift-LMB) the center of mass does not change.

- Any other significant change to the grid like adding or removing a block will immediately update the center of mass to reflect the position of the ore.

- Behavior of the physics engine (e.g. tilt of a rover) reflects the unchanged center of mass (not just a visual bug)

Proposal for fix:

Player moving items around a grid in the inventory UI shall trigger an update of center of mass in the same way that moving items from player to grid or grid to player does.

Hello Markus!

Firstly, I'm sorry that you ran into this issue. Thank you so much for the detailed information and visuals for this post. I managed to create the grid easily with your image and have tested this, this afternoon. I have successfully reproduced the issue and reported it internally. I really appreciate the detail you put into this post as it was a huge help in reproducing it so quickly.

Kind Regards

Laura, QA Department
