Grated Catwalk/stair connection point issues

It seems that the new Grated Catwalk and Stair blocks aren't using "correct" connection points, displayed here with stairs clipping though catwalks, even the most basic functionality of a staircase isn't possible in "small spaces" like proposed because the half stairs can't be connected above another half stair unless it's in the same direction, as shown in photos.
I have the same bug 
I've noticed the same thing. It seems the connection points are reversed, because the stairs can connect when they shouldn't, and can't connect when they should.
