GPU driver not detected
Won't Fix
Whenever I try to launch Space Engineers it freezes on the splash screen, and then the error message "the current version of the game requires a Dx11 card" appears. It started whenever I updated my graphic's drivers
Things I have tried:
- updating driver
- reinstalling driver
- making sure the config uses dx11
- switched to dx9 build (launched successfully) and returned to main build (crashed)
- deleted all appdata, and reinstalled SE
- switching to 720p, then back to 1080p
Also, I don't have any integrated gpu's, and my HDMI cord is plugged in directly to my GPU
PS: There are two files of each type, one is "pre-crashes" and the other is "post-crashes"
Hello, Tele Toast,
thanks for letting us know about your issue and we´re sorry that you are experiencing it.
This issue suggest that you have you .cfg file stuck for some reason on DX9 version. Can you please check your Roaming/SE folder once more and check the SpaceEngineers.cfg file and look for the DX version there? Some players have this file missing completely.
So first of all, please let me know whether you have the file in the folder, and if yes what DX version is set there.
Also please let me know if you are using by any chance two monitors. Some players have also this issue originating from this, unfortunately. So if yes, try to unplug the second monitor completely and try to run the game.
Are you able to roll back to previous graphics driver? When you write that the game was working fine on the previous driver, might be good idea to try it, as you don´t need to be all the time on the most recent driver.
Try also delete manually SharedCache2 folder from appdata.
If nothing above would work, I suggest to - while you wrote you did it - completely uninstall the game and delete all remaining files in appdata (as done before) and from the Steam folder as well. Install the game again, restart PC and try to run the game.
Thanks in advance for any more info you can share.
Kind Regards
