Gameplay Stuttering - Version 1.197.075

Sam Salter shared this bug 3 years ago
Solved

Gameplay Stuttering every few seconds, a periodic freeze for a duration of about a second. VSYNC is on to cap to 60 FPS (same as my 60 Hz monitor) and VSYNC is off in NVIDIA control panel. All graphics card drivers are up to date as of the time of posting.

It doesn't matter what I'm doing, whether I'm in a complex world with multiple large grids to a default System planet, the stuttering persists. My settings are all at High, with antialiasing at max however these settings have never been an issue before with regards to performance.

My FPS monitor says a consistent 60 FPS even during the stuttering, and all my usages (through task manager) are all below 100%. My CPU shows around 40% utilization, and my GPU hovers around 85%, with VRAM showing 85% utilization. So I'm maxing any of my hardware.

My RIG:

Samsung 1920 x 1080 60 Hz,

Intel i7 10700K @5.1 Ghz,

32 GB Corsair 3200 Mhz RAM,

NVIDIA Geforce RTX 2060,

ASUS ROG STRIX Z490-F.

Hello Sam!

Sorry to hear you're having this issue. Is it possible to please attach a log for this?

  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Kind Regards

Hi Laura,

I'm not exactly sure what files you would like but I've attached a file dating to my most recent gameplay containing stuttering. If this isn't what you require please can you be more specific to where I can find these logs?

Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards,

Sam

Hello Sam!

That's exactly right. In the meantime, I know your graphics drivers are up to date but we always suggest the following first. Also, how is it on the most recent update?

  • Verify your game files in Steam

  • Right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files

/bfSnH0rGoN-NgctSWBJN3LfvWZvgnfye9BrPgucxV0n8TDpNc-7yZYwSifdRXyl1quu20KGUNmHzSf6VGRbhWS4a_EYn2MclxJSOz6eVarmz-fhTWVaofVOAVZN_l_leF9dgQ5GF

  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file

  • It means your game configuration will be deleted
  • You can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

  • Delete ShaderCache folder

  • Same access as SpaceEngineers.cfg

  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

Kind Regards

Hi Laura,

Without having to complete any of your recommended steps, the most recent update seems to have removed pretty much all the stuttering I was experiencing. I extend my gratitude and appreciation to you and every one of the Keen Software members!

Thank you for your assistance.

Kind Regards,

Sam Salter :)
