Game has alt-tabbing issues (Windows 10)

Whilst running the game in Fullscreen / Fullscreen Window mode, I seem to have a lot of trouble with the game.
1. I have to click to register that I am in the game window after the game has launched and I am in the main menu.
2. If I alt-tab at the wrong time, I cannot seem to get out of the game window at all, unless I ctrl-alt-delete and open Task Manager
3. If I minimise all my applications (i.e. Go to Desktop), SE decides to "un-minimise".

I think the problem is more of an "game has memory issues" and because of it it eats a lot of memory and quite a lot of virtual memory (swapped on disk) - when you alt-tab, windows has to save some memory pages to disk while reloading others. That takes time.
And given that Windows itself has abysmal virtual memory management ... you got that mess.
