Game freezes every 5 - 10 minutes in Space Engineers.

Gooseman g shared this bug 2 years ago
Solved

So when im in a game every 5 - 10 minutes my game will randomly freeze for around 2 or so minutes and then will unfreeze. This has been happening for around 3 days now and I still haven't found a fix. Occasionally this will also happen on the main menu.

I have verified my files, re downloaded VRage.library.dll, Ran memory tests, Re downloaded Space engineers, Updated all of my PC drivers and tried lowering my game settings to the minimum but still nothing has worked.

I am also playing on a server that me and a few friends have bought, and non of them are having the same problem so I don't see that it would be the mods we have installed being the issue. We only have the server for one month so if anyone has any idea how to fix this it would be much appreciated.

PC SPECS:

i9 9900K

RTX 2070 super

SSD 970 EVO Plus 1TB

16GB ram

Hello, Gooseman g,

thanks for letting us know.

I see you tried some workarounds/fixed yourself, that is great! Can you please try also these?

  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (it means your game configuration will be deleted) - you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder (same location as above)
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder (so you won´t loose you saves, blueprints and such) and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017

Hope some of these advices would work for you!

If no, can I please ask for more info? Are you experiencing this bug in every and each game or only in one/several particular? Can you try to run Empty world without any mods for some time and let me know whether the freezing happens there as well?

If this issue persist for you, I would like to ask you to share me the log file from you game. You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards

Hi, thanks for the advice but sadly it non of them worked. I tried loading into a new single player world with no mods and the game ran completely fine with no freezing or crashes which leads me to believe its a mod in the server.

Do you want the space engineers roaming file?

Hello, Gooseman g,

thanks for your answer.

Yes, please. The logs would be very helpful. If you can share both logs - yours (path written above, just send the the most recent SpaceEngineers_(some numbers) txt file found in that file from session where the freezes happened) and also the logs from the server from time that the freezes occurs, that would be great!

I would love to take a look on those and see what might be the problem for you.

The truth is, however, that it can be mod related, sadly. In that case, I won´t be able to help you other than to say to play without mods or find that one that is responsible for your issue with trial an error :( .

Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards

So i have just done a bit of trial and error with all the mods we used on the server and i couldnt single out a mod as it was still doing it.

So i made another single player world with no mods put on it and it was still doing it in the game without mods making me now shift to believe its a problem with my game.

@ Pregrow

I had a seperate computer plugged in Via LAN cable, I removed that the problem went away, I plugged it backin, problem came back.... If you are useing a lan cable, for internet, switch to wifi....

photo

And it was just the cable.... weather the pc was connected or not, just having a cable going no where was causeing the problem.... maybe just try it... remove all lAN cables and connect via wifi...

I promise you, If I plug a LAN cable in and restart the game, I will get this bug.....

Tank Graham, you are the man! You. fixed the freezing issue. Now it's up to Keen Software to fix this BUG. In my case, I don't need to disconnect the ethernet cable, just turn off the adapter in Windows, that's it. My PC doesn't have wifi, but I already provided one.

@Pregrow

Glad it worked.... '' } Sometimes, its something simple, lets hope Kean now notices this thread and try to recreate the problem and get it fixed.

I had the same Issue and fixed in a similar way. I deactivate IPV6 for my network device! Thats it.

thx to @Graham for the hint, that it might be a network issue.

If anyone sees this and is having the same issue, uninstalling Radmin VPN seems to have fixed it for me. Don't ask me why or how this solves it, it just works.
