Game Freeze on Save & Exit

Since the economy update, my game keeps freezing when I "save & exit". It saves the game successfully most times, but then I'm stuck in the saving screen. I can neither reach the main menu nor go back into the game. I then have to kill the process.
reproduce:
- press escape ingame
- click on "save & exit"
Happens offline and online, on old savegames and new savegames. mods and settings don't seem to affect it.

After 3 years this Problem still exists. The game freezes after choosing "Exit to main menu" with save confirmation.
