Game Crashes when placing ship Welders/Grinders. Interior lights collision

Won't Fix

Every time I attempt to place a Ship welder or grinder my game instantly crashes to desktop.

I am able to reproduce this, each and every time it crashes. (also Interior lights have an invisible collision wall that takes up the entire 1x1 space, and i can't pass thru them)

I did see one other bug post with these exact issues, but it wasn't updated or fixed, it was also 3 months old.


so far I have attempted:


Reinstalled Space Engineers = still crashes after placing grinder/welder

started a new save = still crashes after placing grinder/welder

used modded versions of grinders/welders = crashes to desktop when i place those as well.


I have an Intel I5 3.5ghz 6600k processor

Geforce 1070 GTX GPU

16gigs of ram


Its really annoying that I haven't been able to use them and have to weld/grind everything by hand..


i have attached a log to this file after it crashed. with this log, I loaded into my save, attempted to place a welder, and it crashed.

Could you please provide us with a save and more information regarding the issue you reported? To report a bug into

our system it is necessary to have reliable steps to reproduce in order for programmers to fix it.

I have attached a copy of my save to this reply (as a zip folder? wouldn't let me select just the save folder entirely, i had to zip it)

What happens is: In Single-player Survival whenever I attempt to place a ship version of the Grinder or Welder (large or small ship) to a ship I'm constructing, as soon as i place either of them, space engineers immediately crashes to desktop (windows 10). It also crashes immediately whenever i place separate modded versions of Grinders or Welders as well. It does it on any save I play on, whether it be no other mods, or a save with other mods.

I have also discovered that I CAN Place Welders/Grinders on other peoples Multiplayer servers just fine. but..


I can NOT place them on my singleplayer offline save, the game crashes to desktop


I can NOT place them if i change my save into a Multiplayer public game, the game crashes to desktop

Thank you for your answer and save. However, unless it can be reproduced on a clean, un-modded world it is usually caused by a certain mod or by combination of mods which we have no control over. Can you please confirm this issue also occurs without mods?


We will share more information regarding any progress made on this issue with you once we have had time to examine it further.

Roger, I have tested a modless save and it appears to be working, I assume its safe to say it is indeed a mod interfering with the game itself causing the crash. I am able to place both welder and grinder to the default respawn ship as soon as I loaded a brand new save. Thank you, if anything changes I'll be sure to report, at least I know what to upload for quicker results.
