Game Crashes causing full PC shutdown

LH Creeper shared this bug 3 years ago
Won't Fix

While playing (more often while drilling) the game will crash in such a way that the PC turns off, no blue screen just black, as if power was cut. This bug only occurs in Space engineers and cannot be replicated using other games or stress test programs. The game runs fine from between 5 minutes, ,most commonly 10 minutes, to an hour. This bug occurs both on single player and on multiplayer servers. The issue seemed to disappear after a full reinstall of the game, but soon repapered. Fully reinstalling AMD drivers did not help.

I checked temperatures often and the Max temp did not exceed what had successfully run on other games and benchmarks, as such I'm confident it isn't overheating/.

If it helps my PC setup is as follows:

16GB DDR3 ram

Intel Core i7 CPU 860 @ 2.8GHz

Radeon RX 580 on a Asus ROG board *GB Vram

Antec earthwatts 750W power supply

1TB Samsung Evo SSD

Attached is my latest Log file.

Thanks for any assistance, my apologies if this is the incorrect place to report this issue/bug.

Hello!

Thank you for reporting your issue and I'm sorry you're experiencing it! There looks like there is an issue related to your sound in the log - specifically :

Exception during loading audio engine. Game continues, but without sound. Details: System.DllNotFoundException: Unable to find XAudio2 dlls for requested versions [Version27], not installed on this machine at SharpDX.XAudio2.XAudio2..ctor(XAudio2Flags flags, ProcessorSpecifier processorSpecifier, XAudio2Version requestedVersion) at VRage.Platform.Windows.Audio.MyPlatformAudio.InitAudioEngine() at VRage.Audio.MyXAudio2.StartEngine() at VRage.Audio.MyXAudio2.CheckIfDeviceChanged()

Did you experience any sound issues that you know of? There is a thread relating to it here which may be worth taking a look at: https://steamcommunity.com/app/244850/discussions/6/2592234299567430578/

I appreciate you have already re-installed but I would suggest the following:

  • Verify your game files in Steam

  • Right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files

  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file

  • It means your game configuration will be deleted
  • You can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

  • Delete ShaderCache folder

  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam

Kind Regards
