Game Crashes before Main Menu
Solved
I haven't played SE for a long time and today I re-installed on my new HP Omen. When I hit play, I get a black screen and a blue cursor and then the app closes. The logs don't appear to show a relevant error message.
To troubleshoot I have:
- Updated graphics driver. Using an RTX2080 w/ v461.72
- Turned off Steam and NVidia overlay
- Updated .Net framework to most recent 4.8
- Installed 2017 C++ redistributable (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads-2647da03-1eea-4433-9aff-95f26a218cc0)
I have the same bug
Even though I just installed the game, I also validated the steam files. Same issue.
I resolved this by renaming the "\Steam\SteamApps\common\SpaceEngineers\Content\Videos" folder to "Videos2".
I was able to play all of the .wmv files in the folder so I'm not sure what might have caused this issue. Please let me know if I can help in any way to test/debug this issue.
