Game crash to desktop when starting Space Engineers since [1.198.00]

Won't Fix

Space Engineers crashes when I start the game itself. The problem exists since the Warfare 1 Update [1.198.00]. I tried to reinstall the game as well which hasn't fixed the problem as well. The game is only playable when i downgrade it to v1.197.180.

thanks for sharing your issue with us.

Can you please try to update your Windows and graphic drivers? That might sort the problem.

Hello Support Team,

I have updated my Windows to the newest version of windows 10 and my graphics driver is the GeForce Game Ready-Driver Version 466.47 and the error is still happening.

I have an System Survey attached. Maybe this will help finding the error.

Hello, Fabian,

thanks for coming back and for confirming that you did update the Windows and GPU drivers.

We checked again your log with colleague and we found out, that there is this part:

"TryChangeToFullscreen failed with HRESULT = 0x887A0022"

I would like to ask you the following in order to fix the problem on your side:

locate and open %AppData%\SpaceEngineers\SpaceEngineers.cfg (use notepad or notepad++ or similar). In this file, find the following section:

<item> <Key>WindowMode</Key> <Value> <Value xsi:type="xsd:string">0</Value> </Value> </item>

and change the Value number to

<Value xsi:type="xsd:string">1</Value>

Performing this change, should the game switch to fullscreen mode. Or changing the value to "2" shall switch the game to window mode.

Hope this will help you and you will be able to run the game again.
