False Dx11 error message

Noah shared this bug 5 years ago
Outdated

I've written this so much in long paragraphs and now I am just gonna make it brief because steam had issues posting this or pretty much froze in the same screen till I had to restart

My graphics card has a Dx11 and I'm getting the Dx11 error

I've tried all the fixes I could think of (including the ones in bug reports)

and heres the thing: I am missing the CFG file.

I've already tried to put in my friend's CFG file, space engineers detected it but ignored it.

short and brief because my fingers are turning purple typing this in

so now I figured out I had to post in this website which finally figured out why posting wasn't working lol/cc1f76385c1edab8f9739a18bd8d1d74

so I got my CFG file naturally but it still won't work even with the fixes people suggest to do in the CFG file still don't work

what I tried was going to DX9 to naturally get a CFG file which worked

changed the DirectX 11 to 9 and 11 to see if they both worked after switching to natural version.

Still shows I need Dx11 but my computer says I have a Dx12

I already tried updating the drivers and still no luck

nevermind the CFG file was natural from Dx9 but now with the newest version of space engineers the CFG file is not coming back

back to square one :/

Hi Noah,

Thank you for providing us with additional information.

We would like you to perform the following steps.

  1. Remove SpaceEngineers.cfg from \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers
  2. Test it and let us know

We appreciate your patience.

As I stated I do not have a .cfg file which is probably the reason why I cannot run the game

Currently when I launch it the little window goes white and tells me I dont have a Dx11 whilst having Dx12

I reinstalled the game with no cfg going in

I reinstalled steam and verified cache files with no luck

I reinstalled windows 3 times with perfect success (but still no .cfg file)

When I insert my friends CFG file space engineers completely ignores it

I also tried rebooting and factory restarting my computer (installed bootcamp, steam, and space engineers and still no cfg file)

Is there a possibility that I could somehow bypass the Dx11 error and delete the files that say I dont have dx11 and run the game?

EDIT 1: I also kept windows up-to-date and manually updated all my drivers including graphics and display

P.S I have played the game before but for some reason this started occurring when the economy update happened

Reverting versions doesnt help but I believe something is wrong with the cfg file generator or its possible this is not related to the cfg file at all

But one step at a time.

Okay so I fixed it with the help of Kimmaz and Dan2D3D and the problem was:

Bootcamp forgot to install my graphics card and I downloaded AMD apple bootcamp graphics and space engineers started working fine

You can archive this bug report if you want but I suggest maybe you could put our solution to the how to fix section or like things players can try before sending their own bug report (for other people using mac bootcamp having the same trouble as me

Hey. Man what a blast to the past.

I believe there might not be a fix towards your issue primarily being Dx isnt natively supported for Linux. However, there is a translation layer called DXVK which allows Linux to translate DX to Vulkan. Since Vulkan is naturally supported. You probably could use this tool to get SE running if you could run Space Engineers on Vulkan

But otherwise, I dont think anyone would be able to help on that.

The only thing I can recommend is dual-booting Windows just for SE. as did I from Mac to Windows. (Thank goodness those days are over)

Cheers!
