Failed to Save Memory or files issue

xzairre halsey shared this bug 3 years ago
Won't Fix

my game has been working fine and when i went to join my friend to play for about a month there was no problem but when i tried to go back to play single player it repeatedly says failed to save at the start of every world created even on vanilla and iv looked it up and cant find anything that actually works for long lasting playing instead of wiping all my files repeatedly and hoping it works when i redownload the game is there anything that can cause this such as mods even though it also messes up on vanilla? There is no crashing just no saving.

Hello, Engineer!

Thanks for sharing your issue with us.

So this behavior is happening to you on every attempt to save? New game, loading old games... ?

There might a workaround/fix you you:

Please locate you SE folder in the Roaming folder - you can access it by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers. There, you can try to delete the SharedCache2 folder and SpaceEngineers.cfg file (this means that your in-game configuration will be reset to defaults).

Please let me know if this solution works for you.

If not, can you please share me one of the affected save files? You can find it in the same folder. Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Kind Regards

Hello, Engineers!

xzairre, thanks for the log. I know you said that is it happening as well on non-modded world, but in the log, there are mods. Can you please try once more and send us clean log from vanilla world, please?

Did both of you try to delete the SharedCache2 folder? Did you also try to verify the game data through Steam (right click on SE in Steam library - Properties - Local files - Verify integrity of game files)?

It seem not very likely, but one of the reason that did brought up this issue in the past was also that you somehow exceed the world´s name character limit. I know that "Nocturnia" seem not to be the reason, but anyway... can you also try to run any new game without renaming it from the original name? Or maybe try some tiny-little-short name just like "A"... just to be sure.

I would be grateful for any more information that you can share.

Also maybe, having one of the affected files might be a help - can you please sent it to me? You can find Saves folder in the Roaming/SE as written above.

Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards

i believe i fixed it, it seemed to be the steam cloud setting that for what ever reason checked its self on or at least for me that fixed it, Right click on space engineers - Properties - General - Then uncheck steam cloud setting. may not work for everyone but it did for me.
