Error in Blueprint screen causes save bug

Duke shared this bug 3 years ago
Won't Fix

There is a compound error via the blueprint screen. The first is that I cannot under any circumstances enter the blueprint screen without error. Upon either creating a blueprint or entering the screen via F10, the game will cease to save. Upon exiting the blueprint screen I will save the game, however no on screen text displays that the game is saved. When I try to save the game again the game will state "Error game is already saving". The second bug is that none of the blueprints work. I can create a blueprint easily however when trying to copy to clipboard or to load onto the projector the blueprint is indefinitely loading and states " The blueprint is being loaded". The blueprint in question is always a small grid with under 300 blocks and 0.8MB. Since I have encountered no other bugs in the game I am assuming they are connected.

Hello, Duke,

thanks for sharing your issue with us and sorry that you are experiencing it. However, none of the issues you are writing about seems to happen to me when tried. Entering the BP menu, as well as operating with blueprints (pasting it directly from the menu or loading it into the projector) works fine for me. As well no error with saving was observed - I got proper message "World *** saved" and I can load and exit the game (with or without saving) properly.

Are you still experiencing it, or was it just one time thing? Does it happen to you on multiple worlds or is this error present just on one world? Since you are speaking about saving the game normally through the Save button, I take it you are playing single player. Can you confirm?

Can you please share the save of the affected world so I can check it on my own? Also sharing the BP that are not working for you would be nice.

You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.

Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Kind Regards

The error occurs on multiple worlds. Even if I start a new single player world (creative or survival) the blueprint screen causes errors in the same manner. Exiting the game does nothing and the error persists after reloading, exiting and or creating a new world.

It doesnt matter what blueprints are created or copied, all of them dont work and the projectors never load any of them.

As stated before it doesnt matter what blueprint is created, none of them work. This is the test blueprint I made.

Hello, Duke,

thanks for providing the save and the BP. Unfortunately, everything still works for me, even on your provided world. Tried to replicate fully your conditions - save mode (no experimental), opt out of mod.io - still no luck.

I suspect that the problem must be somewhere on your side, then. Did you try to verify integrity of game files through Steam? SE in Steam library, right click, properties, local files. This might help if you have some corrupted files.

You might also try to delete the SE.cfg file in roaming/SE (it means your game configuration will be deleted). If this still won´t work, next I would delete the Shader cache file.

You can also try to delete whole SE folder in roaming - upon running the game it will be automatically made anew with fresh files, configs etc. If you do this, you might want to make a back-up copy of the folder beforehand and move it to some other location so you can later copy back your saves and blueprints to the new folder.

If none of the mentioned method would work for you, then probably the last thing you might want to do is uninstall the game and reinstall it completely.

Hope some of these provided approaches will work for you. Please let me know.

Kind Regards

So upon reinstalling the game several times the blueprint screen works optimally when playing in online mode only. Previously it did not work on either offline or online mode for steam.

Hello, Duke,

well, at least that´s something.

Did you also try the other steps I did propose to you last time? Even after full uninstall and re-install of the game, there still might be some files that are not deleted (in roaming folder), and upon new install, the game will use them just the very same it did last time before uninstalling.

Can you try to delete the roaming/SE folder (after back-up) and confirm that even after this step, you are still experiencing it?

Did the behavior changed anyhow in SP, now? Or is it still the very same as you wrote up in the thread main body? What is the error when entering the BP menu? Is it the same as you write here with saving, or some other text? Does it happen with all blueprints - I mean all categories - local, cloud and workshop? I suspect at least your own local blueprints should work definitely and all the time.

Are you sure all your things are up-to-date? The game (v1.1.97.180), your graphic card drivers, windows... ?

Thanks.

Kind Regards

Hello, Engineer!

Because there is no new comment from you, and we are unable to reproduce the issue on our own, I will close this thread now as outdated.

If you or any other player will experience this issue again, please make a new thread and provide all needed info there.

Thank you for understanding.

Kind Regards
