Dedicated servers do not load dependencies when added afterwards.

diK shared this bug 3 years ago
Won't Fix

We have a main mod for our server. All extensions like ores and block mods are added as a dependency.

If we now add another dependency they will not be loaded by the server.

This problem exists since the last update (Changelog - Hotfix - 197.180). Possibly also before, unfortunately we can't say anything about it, because the update system was completely broken before.

Hello, diK,

I´m sorry you are experiencing this. Thanks for letting us know.

Can I please ask for the save of your world, you are running on DS as well as the mods (are they from workshop or some local as well that you wrote yourself) ?

Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Does the main mod loads properly? The old mods that are using dependencies are working as well? Only if you want to add new one, THAT is broken? Am I right?

Any more info you can share would be great help!

Kind Regards

It can be reproduced when you:

1. create a new world

2. add mod with dependency

3. start server => mod and dependencies are loaded

4. stop server

5. add additional dependencies to the mod

6. start server => the mod is loaded (with dependencies from step 2) but the additional added dependencies (step 5) are missing

Hello, diK,

thanks for the reprosteps. And I think it would be useful, if only I would know how to add another dependencies to a mod :(

Can you please enlighten me? First 4 steps was done without problem and the dependency mod was downloaded alongside the manually added mod, but from that point I was just running around blindly trying my best but with no luck.

Thanks for the info in advance.

Hello,

I have attached a .zip.

This is a "Empty Mod"

Copy and unzip it under %appdata%/SpaceEngineers/Mods

Upload the mod from SpaceEngineers to the workshop.

After that you will be asked if you want to open your workshop page.

On the workshop page there is a selection on the right side with which you can add dependencies.

Add one or two mods.

Now start a new world and add your published mod.

Start and stop the server.

Then go back to your Workshop page and add another mod as a dependency.

Start the server again and see if the additional dependency is loaded.

Thanks for your help

Hello, diK,

thanks a lot for stating clearly how to add dependencies - that was great help!

Anyway... everything was working for me. Tried to add various numbers of mods in between server sessions (up to having 27 dependencies on the main mod)... each one was downloaded and added properly after server start. Tried also in states that I´m logged in or logged out of steam in server app (top left corner), still worked.

Tried also to go back to v196, put the main mod there with two dependencies, run and stop the server, close the app, update in to v197 and add mode dependencies right after update. Everything was still working just fine for me.

So it has to be something different, I guess.

Are you running the server in experimental mode? I am - forced by the server itself, my PC in not powerful enough to run non-experimental server.

It might seems dull, but I need to ask - are you sure you did not turn off the option to autodetect to dependencies in the server app by mistake, or it wasn´t turned off after the update?

It might also be related to possible cap in number of dependencies one mod can have? Although I don´t know if there is any, as I wrote, I tried up to 27 mods. If you have much more added as dependencies, it is possible that it got broken. In that case, I´ll advise you to make another empty/head mod and add new dependencies there. Or are you experiencing it even with the Empty Mod you provided here? Just with one or two dependencies on it?

Are you using subscribed mods from steam from other people? Or your own mods, stored locally and published to the workshop?

If nothing of there provided solutions would work for you... I´m afraid I would need full list of the mods that you are using, specify which are the one broken, that are not being added. And possibly also the server save - so I would have the very same settings in all the tabs in the server settings.

Thanks again.

Kind Regards
