De-pressurisation sound and visual effect playing at random

Suicide Neil shared this bug 6 years ago
Solved

This is an old, old bug that needs to be fixed urgently- the de-pressurisation sound and particle effect plays at random and is both terrifying and deafening. Sometimes when placing blocks, sometimes when removing blocks, sometimes for no reason at all regardless of the block type.

Please fix this once and for all.

This is happening all the time. Doesn't matter if its small or big ship. Its really annoying.

Hello, thank you for the report.

Could you be more specific? Are there any steps to reproduce it more reliably?

The issue with pressurization is so pervasive for Keen support to not have experience with this issue is difficult to accept.

To replicate:

Create a Vanilla world with pressurization enabled.

Actually use this world.

Too much to ask? Ok, do this as well:

Spawn an Earth planet and land on its surface

Create a 10x10x10 hollow cube of armour blocks, and add power to it.

put a door somewhere typical

punch a hole in a wall and place an air vent facing so it would fill the room

go to the outside of the cube and close the door

go to where the vent is and get ready for it: place another vent onto the original.

[woosh] *gasp* wow I've never seen this happen before!

You can delete and add the vents back and it won't happen, You can just delete the exterior vent, and replace it and it won't happen, but if you repeatedly do so, it will trigger a woosh every minute or so. Heck, if you just sit there and stare at the cube for 10 minutes it will jump scare.

It's no wonder Marek thinks pressurization adds nothing to gameplay, Nobody at Keen apparently EVER uses the feature.

I have had this effect be produced by grinding down small and large ship Large Atmospheric Engines I have also had it from those types of blocks when removing solar panels in a planet atmosphere. The one thing it seems to be tied to when grinding is the change in build states.

There are no steps to reliably reproduce it- it happens at random, that's the whole point. Placing blocks sometimes causes it, grinding blocks sometimes causes it- simply looking at a grid sometimes causes it- you can do exactly the same things over and over and sometimes it won't happen, its RANDOM.

For example: https://youtu.be/jP339fbZ2ko?t=6758 looking at a grid causes it, then placing a block also causes it, then looking at the grid again causes it- the blocks are not pressurised nor do they affect anything relating to pressurisation. Important to note is that this also happens in 100% vanilla games, creative and survival.

I believe I have noticed this issue while welding a small grid ship (maybe this is a different issue). It happens every time.

It's actually not a bad looking effect for what's going on, but it is laggy and excessively loud.

Here's a video I took of it a while back, but it still happens.

Hi,

can you please share the world? It would help us to have the world.

Thank you.

Thank you, I was able to reproduce it in the world. I created the ticket and someone will look at it as soon as possible.

I got one reliable way of replicating this:

- Get scout car blueprint from attachments.

- Spawn it in a world with airtightness on (doesn't matter if space or planet).

- Remove the block I colored in the "remove-block" image (the ramp between the suspension blocks at the rear).

Hi,

thank you so much! It was really easy to reproduce with attached blueprint. I created a ticket and somebody will look at it.

If anyone has a blueprint or a world with with this bug and some known steps to reproduce, please keep sharing them. Even though the issues looks similar, each of them can be different bug.

Thank you!
