Current version, experimental mode, selecting any block to place, hard crash

I've wiped the entirety of SE off my computer, re downloaded everything fresh. No mods, nothing other than DLC; Decorative pack one and two. Game starts fine, load into a single player creative world, or my creative world public server. Interact with objects/items just fine, Navigate around. However whenever I select an item in my toolbar (block to build/place) the game hard crashes to the desktop with attached log file. Doesn't seem to matter what block I select, or paint/color it is trying to place it as. This crash started just after the latest 6th anniversary update, and my subsequent purchase of DLC Decorative Pack II. I've tried running the game with that DLC un-installed as well, same issue.
