Crashing Graphics Error 100% of time when loading after update

Sean Bertran shared this bug 3 years ago
Won't Fix

Hi all,

My game is crashing on the loading screen basically 100% of the time with an error saying the graphics card is overheating. I've Googled and checked the workaround, including deleting the config file and the contents of the ShaderCache folder. I've also tried to completely reinstall the game to no avail.

Does anyone know what to do next? It was working great before the last update. I have a GTX1070 8 GB with 12 GB of RAM, it's loaded on a 2 TB SSD.

Things I've done so far:

Ensured that my graphics driver was up to date

Verified Game Files

Cleared ShadeCache

Deleted Config file

Complete Reinstall

Tried to play with reduced resolution and all graphics set to minimum

Enabled -nointro in startup options

Not sure what's going on - I was playing on high graphics with no issues at all before the last update.

I've attached the log for your review! Thank you and looking forward to your reply.

Hello, Sean,

thanks for letting us know about this issue and we are sorry that you are experiencing it in the first place :(

Please note that we are aware of one specific error in the game code that might result in this (or similar) behavior. However, we are unable to guarantee that upon fixing the error, it will fix this broken behavior as well. Please, wait till Hotfix2 for v198 is presented and released and let us know if the fix fixed the game for you as well.

Thanks in advance for your patience and for update of this thread upon the Hotfix2 is released.

Kind Regards

Hello and thanks for your reply!

In the meantime I've increased my page file to 10 GB and it seems to have resolved the issue. I had lowered it before to make more space on my boot disk, and since reverting to 10 GB it seems to have fixed it.

I'll be sure to try to test it out again once the hotfix drops to see if it has fixed this problem! Thanks for making this great game, my friends and I are really enjoying it!

Unfortunately this didn't work for me. Switching to 10GB of page file still results in crashing. It seems like the game just erroneously thinks the computer is overheating and shuts down, even though everything is fine.

Hello, Alex,

sorry for late reply. Are you still experiencing this issue, even with workaround from Sean?

Are you able to provide the log as well, so I can better see what your problem might be?

You can access the game file by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers. There you should be able to locate the logs in txt form.

Hello, Engineers!

Because there is no new comment from you, and we are unable to reproduce the issue on our own, I will close this thread now as outdated.

If you or any other player will experience this issue again, please make a new thread and provide all needed info there.

Thank you for understanding.

This is still an issue. We hadn't said anything because we hadn't heard from Keen. Any updates on fixing this bug would be much appreciated.

Hello, Alex,

I´m sorry to hear that you are still experiencing this issue.

But I asked you for the log in order to make sure the issue is indeed the same. It´s strange that the workaround from Sean didn´t work for you, as it did for him. Might be some other problem/error/exception.

As Sean did not reply and there was no info from you, I closed this issue.

Can you please open completely new thread with providing all the necessary information, the log the most, please?

Kind Regards
