Connector Trade Mode not working for player stations

Mythos shared this bug 2 years ago
Won't Fix

I'm running a station on official server DE#6. Other players reported, they can not connect to my connectors, I set to "Trade Mode On".

As far as I understand this setting should be sufficient for them to do so. AFAIK I run the exact same settings as NPC stations do. I don't want to set my connectors to "Share With All" because then everybody could mess with the settings incl. "Trade Mode" and "Autounlock Time".

If that matters, the are set to "Share with Faction", because I want my buddies to be able to temporarily switch off trade mode or similar.

I created a sinlge player save, boiled down to the exact problem. I used a dummy-faction member as owner of the red station. You can check the connector is in trade mode when you sit in the desk. But the player's blue ship can not dock.

Hello, Oliver,

thanks for letting us know about your concern.

After some decent testing, I found that the Trading mode is working as expected. Only you need to set it to Share with all (no worries, since there is the trading mode on, other players won´t be able to see and thus change any settings of the functional blocks on the grid; it´s only for docking purposes). If you let it to Share with my faction, they would not be able to turn the trading mode off anyway since they will be connected with the ship and the settings option is grayed out when actively connected.

Other players connected like this can not view your block, change settings, steal any items from connected inventories (e.g. cargo containers), draw the power from the station in order to e.g. try to charge theirs batteries. That's guarantee by the Trading mode settings.

All the players can do while docked like this to the grid/base/station is that they can access their ship's inventory while using the Store block, so they can sell items they brought and vice versa, so they can buy more items then only with character's inventory.

Hope this explanation is enough for you.

Will close this thread.

Kind Regards

I just tried with another player (non-fiendly) on official server.

I have set the connectors to "trade mode on" and "share with all". The other player was able to grab the inventory of that connector and switch it off (along with messing all the other settings). That is not acceptable!

For clarification: You seem to assume they try to mess with inventory or setting from their docked ship. But they can access the connector directly from suit via that yellow-outline-port, in docked or undocked state.

But even then he was not easily able to dock to that connector. Only after he changed his own connector to "share with all" as well, he was able to dock.

How can we players set up a station that just behaves as the NPC do? There no "share with all" is needed and everyone can dock regardless of their own connector's settings.

Hello, Oliver,

well.. if you still thinks that there is something wrong and you are not able to set the connector right, please, can you do a video showing the behavior that you are complaining about?

From what I saw and tried, I was not able to reproduce the state where other players (from same faction, different faction, completely strange players) can not use the connector in Trading mode as designed.

I would be happy to see the broken behavior on the video in order to be able to replicate it properly.

Kind Regards

Hello, Engineer!

Because there is no new comment from you, and we are unable to reproduce the issue on our own, I will close this thread now as outdated.

If you or any other player will experience this issue again, please make a new thread and provide all needed info there.

Thank you for understanding.

Kind Regards

I have the same issue. When the connector is set to Trade Mode and No Share or Share with Faction, every other player cannot doc to it. If I set it to Share with All, all players can change every control on the control panel wrt to that connector including the Trade Mode flag. This is clearly broken. I have a public station intended to help new players out on Keen NA #3 - SDK.Station. The connectors on the public grid are unusable for that purpose (or any general trading).
