Client/Server grid desync on dedicated server

Richard OConnell shared this bug 3 years ago
Won't Fix

On a dedicated server, players have been experiencing issues grinding, welding, placing blocks on, or updating settings via control panel on a grid. When this happens to a grid, n player is able to interact with it until they log out and log back in. Updates seem to actually take effect server-side but are not updated to the client.

A few observations:

-This can happen with any grid, including npc ships.

-Leaving and rejoining the server typically fixes it.

-Seems to happen more frequently when other players are around.

Hello, Richard!

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue.

Just to double-check, is this happening on a specific server or are you seeing this happen with multiple? If it is a specific server, is this a Keen server, locally hosted or are you renting a server? If this is local, could I please have a copy of the world to see how it behaves for me? Also, may be worth attaching your log too :)

  • You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.
  • Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.
  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Its happening on a newer dedicated server I started about a week ago with 4 players, hosted by a popular 3rd party vendor. I've uploaded the DS world file and logs to google drive because they exceed the 2mb limit.

Hopefully you'll be able to reproduce. It typically happens when multiple people are on and are modifying the same grid. Sometimes it seems to happen constantly, even with restarts, other times, things seem fine for long periods of time.

Please let me know if you have trouble accessing the files or if there is any additional information I can provide.

This is especially prominent with damaged blocks, client will repair blocks but client visual is not updated. Client relogs, block visuals fixed and repaired. This has been a standing issue for quite some time.

Hello, Richard!

I appreciate this thread is quite old. Is this still an issue for you? Or, has it since been resolved? Does the server use any mods at all? Is it quite an intensive world? Could you please make the Google files accessible?

Hi Laura, This was on a new world without any mods. This started happening within the first day of survival gameplay where 3 of us were contributing to the same grid on a planet surface. I believe the game included 4 planets and I havent played with others recently to test whether or not the problem is still around, but I could grab a couple friends and try to reproduce it in a new world again.

Hello, Richard!

Thank you for letting me know it was without mods and on a new world. Thank you also for changing the privacy, I will have a look at this. If it is at all possible to also check it, just to verify you still have the same issue as before that would be great (in case there has been a fix at some point in that time) :)

Kind Regards

Hello, Engineer!

Because there is no new comment from you, and we are unable to reproduce the issue on our own, I will close this thread now as outdated.

If you or any other player will experience this issue again, please make a new thread and provide all needed info there.

Thank you for understanding.

Kind Regards
