can't recolor or place blocks a different color

Since the latest update I can't change the color of a block by recoloring or change the color before placement. Every time I try to change the color using the paint menu (or what ever you call it) it keeps going back to the default gray. I also do not have access to the new stuff from the update that came with prior "Paid" DLC (which i do own)like the new Paint styles and the L-shaped couch along with the rest of the items. I tested many of my worlds both modded and non-modded ones, restarting the game, and uninstalling and reinstalling the game and still does not work.

I can only change colors by selecting and then clicking the OK button. Does not allow you to select and hit ESC like it used to. Very inconvenient.
