BUG Remote Control And Laser Antenna

Warnex shared this bug 5 years ago
Reported

I made a drone set 2 laser antennas on it one on bottom one on top and set a third laser antenna on the base they all have clear line of sight with each other all are set on infinite range all are powered. They connect to each other normaly though when connected the grid doesn't show up in the grid selection until i relog from server, after relogging i can see the drone appear in the grid selection i sit in a control station i have the right owner ship connection stable and remote control available on the drone grid so i try to control it but nothing happens and it kicks me out of the grid selection UI i can't control the drone same happens when i go into the terminal of the drone select remote control and press control it kicks me out of UI and nothing happens can't control the drone

EDIT: Found out you also can't give any orders to the remote control block it doesn't add gps location and on default the auto pilot option is greyed out because the remote control when build has its path set to patrol but when switched to "one way" auto pilot should be available but it is still greyed out.

there are 2 bugs :

-Grids not showing up in selection screen after establishing connection until relog

-Control button of remote control not functioning

Please, we need stealth drones :'( ... :)

This is also a problem in single player mode.

Have you tried turning it off and on again? :)

Nah, seriously though. I was having this issue for ages. Was getting a permission issue in the Remote Control menu even though I owned the grid. Worked fine if I spawned in the same grid in creative, or if I created the grid fresh in survival. But old grids I'd built would not connect.

Don't know if this will work every time, but I turned my grid off with 'Y' and turned it back on and it showed up correctly in the remote menu.

Probably not ideal to turn off your remote controlled stealth drone! But it's something.

Issue still exists. Laser antenna connection established but the remote grid does not appear in the grid menu. This issue occurs on all instances: DS, official servers, solo play.

I had the same issue, so it was'nt fixed yet?

Also, some grid blocks when remote access don't show up on the list sometimes. But this I understand it can be due to rendering the building.

Hello All!

Is it possible that someone could supply a save file where they are experiencing this problem and reliable steps to reproduce the issue? I have recreated a base with a control station, a small drone with two laser antennas on and a remote as suggested in the original comment. I have then copied the co-ordinates from the main base laser antenna and accessed this remotely without issue. I tried this on a dedicated server and also via singleplayer as there was mention of both but originally the server. I have been able to reliably connect and control the drone each time. I'm hoping someone is able to help with a save so I can experience the issue happening :)

  • You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.

Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Dear Laura,

I have a very similar problem to the original post. My world was slightly modded; I have removed all the mods before submitting my save game.

I have a laser antenna connecting my "BASE" and my "Satellite UOVO"; as you can see, it is impossible to control the satellite.

I hope this helps.

Hello, Fabio!

Thank you for providing your save. With this, I have managed to reproduce your issue and report it internally. There is also an issue reported here where the laser antenna at a distance is not connecting which was recently reproduced by my collegue. I have linked the two together when reporting it in case they are in some way related. I will mark this as awaiting fix and hopefully, you will be able to play as expected with the remote control and laser antennas. I appreciate everyone's input and patience :)

Hello Laura,

I'm happy that you have successfully reproduced the issue!

Please note that the two issues are a little different. In this, the two laser antennas correctly connect, but it is impossible to take control/show the terminal; in the other issue linked, there is no connection at all.

Kind Regards,

Fabio

Hello, Fabio!

I appreciate this thread is quite old. Would it please be possible to provide reproduction steps for the issue you have with this save? I had thought that you were unable to establish a connection, not that you were unable to control the satellite itself. Could you please clarify the issue with reliable steps for reproduction? :)

somehow this is still an isue. Im able to make the laser anntenas connect like they should, but when im checking the grid list, It says that it's not connected, and that I don't have the correct ownership (and I know the ownership is correct) and it says it don't have a remote controller wich it dose. And the only way I can make them report as connected in the grid list is by restarting/reloading the savegame. I attached some screenshots showing the problem. I realy hope you can fix this problem, and I love the game, thanks for you're help

this issue still exists. when trying to control multiple drones connected per lasers, the grids get not reachable randomly until reloading the game.
