BSOD on win 10 on game startup: KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

Won't Fix

KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED BSOD message on game startup.


I have:

  • clean install on separate drive inc removing appdata
  • updated all drivers
  • ran without dlc and un-subbed form workshop content
  • ran in previous versions, only 1.172 worked so far however that failed due to driver issues as it is pre my current Gforce drivers.


I am unable to locate any crash files in the install drive for space eng or in appdata. I have checked in event viewer and can't find a log there for spaceeng.

Thank you for contacting us. Could you please provide us with your logs? You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers. There should be SpaceEngineers.log and VRage.log.

In addition what you have already tried, please try:

  • Verify your game files in Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

please see attached roaming folder.

as previously stated i can't identify any logs.

OS is fully updated

Game files are verified

Latest version of VC installed

I appreciate this thread is quite old. Is this still an issue that persists for you? If it has since been resolved I will close this for you :) There have been a number of updates since your post and we are now on 198.027
