Broken or Removed Controller Functionality
I play Space Engineers on a PC, but because of side effects from chemotherapy, playing with a keyboard is very difficult. However being a die-hard gamer, I've found playing with a controller is manageable, and I appreciate the progress on controller support in the game. It has greatly improved my ability to still play and enjoy the game. I tried to search for a similar report, but found nothing. If this is a duplicate, I apologize.
As of late, I can't be sure of when the change happened, the toolbar for ship control has had functionality broken or removed. I refer to the "Left Stick Push" with "A" or "B" combination. Adding of a group or block function is impossible past the first toolbar cluster of four. An attempt to add a function, past the first cluster of four, leaves the selected toolbar slot empty, but places a block in the build queue instead. On ship toolbars previously configured, before the change, subsequent switching of the toolbar, between clusters of four, retained it's selected function and remained working, but any attempt to add a group or block function, fails the same way as indicated. This occurs in a new or saved game. Just to clarify, the first cluster of four works, but subsequent clusters of four will not accept a selected function.
This did work as expected previously. I hope this is an unexpected side effect of something else and not a feature change. Please have a look. Thanks.

Hello, David,
just found this thread is still stuck in "In progress" state.
Can I please ask whether you are still experiencing this issue nowadays after several game updates and patches, please?
If yes, can you please try this workaround/fix that have proven to other players to fix the controller issue?
1) On your PC, open Control panel, switch to Large Icons
2) Go to Devices and Printers
3) Right click on the gamepad and open 'Game Controller settings'
4) Select the controller and press 'Advanced' button
5) Select 'Controller (Xbox One For Windows)' as preferred device
6) Press 'Ok' button
Please let me know.
Kind Regards

I apologize for not responding earlier, but life kinda got in the way. Yes, this was actually fixed, by an update, several months after the original support request. I do appreciate you following up on this.
