Blocks passing through other blocks

I had crated a semi truck with trailer to carry my mining ship. I need to add a rotor in the connection between the truck and the trailer. so i connected 2 pistons with blocks on the ends. To clarify, there is one piston on either side of the trailer, toward the front of the trailer.

Now when i extend the pistons to support the trailer, i notice the block on the end of the piston and the piston were passing through the platform of blocks.

I also tried landing gear, but these also passed through the steel blocks, until they hit the ground below the platform. I have add a picture of this happening.
