Blast Bombing

Solved

I’ve recently been encountering to multiple griefers using steel plates to place blast door blocks while traveling 100 meters per second. These blocks are untargetable by turrets and the devastation caused by these blast doors are near equal to a warhead explosion if not better. With the upcoming economy coming soon, I urge the developers to take a look at this to improve over-all gameplay.

I have been targeted by this twice. This exploit makes MP PVP almost not worth playing. You can spend weeks/months building a prized creation with heavy armor, turrets galore and some newbie can spawn in the server, track you down because everyone spawns within a 20km range of someone and lay waste to your ship/base with just a few steel plates in their inventory. Keen you have to fix this! Blocks should do relative damage to how many components are in them. A block with one steel plate in it should not do as much damage as a block with 100 steel plates in it.

The most broken mechanic I've seen a video game in my life. Please fix this before the upcoming economy patch or the entire game will just be filled with griefers.

I've spent 2 fucking weeks creating my ship with my friends to just to have some asshole come in with a couple steel plates to ruin everything. Literally the turrets were doing shit against this. Its fucking stupid.

To Keen: blocks should not weight max weight the moment they are spawned, they should weight as much as is the sum of components (+ scrap when damaged).

I suppose there is a difference whether the base is hit with 21kg or 2.8t heavy block ...

Though that would increase the processing load ...

i cant think of way to make the blocks not do damage without taxing extra processing power of having to check every single block if its full weight or not but at least give our cannons a way to defend ourselves.... these things r flying at us in a straight line. most people who get rekt by this exploit have multiple<many turrets that do nothing to stop this. Maybe the answer is somewhere in there?

If turrets had the option to shoot enemy floating objects, that would be no problem. Even with this error in calculating frame of block with only a few components.

if I recall correctly the way SE's code currently works is that it only has one block mass - the mass of the completed block, and does not account to how built it is or how many components are in it when calculating the mass. For example a refinery frame consisting of 1 steel plate is equated to the full mass of a complete refinery with the 1100 steel plates and other bits in it. As for the blast door stuff; Trash auto remove likes to delete moving unpowered grids more than a KM away from anybody yet turrets have a max range of 800m. So by default the game mechanics enable somebody using a small grid ship with a landing gear to grab onto a blast torpedo, accelerate and release at just over the turrets range and still hit the target.

Worse yet in my opinion is people just ramming the whole respawn ship into your base; what can you do to stop that BS?

It's funny at times but very broken and annoying at the moment. With a single steel plate in modded survival I can squash my friend by just putting down an arc reactor above their head on a planet, and it's not even built, that thing is supposed to weigh a ton when it's built, not when I form a single steel plate into the shape of an arc reactor. There's a mod out there that fixes this for all blocks and sets their weight based on build state or whatever, but you shouldn't have to resort to mods to fix this. Please get this fixed asap.
