Black Hexagons over objects

Callum Denbigh shared this bug 5 years ago
Won't Fix

I've been suffering from this problem for while alongside a few others for different games but Space Engineers has been plaguing me with this problem no matter what I try. While in game singleplayer or Multiplayer, without warning any object on screen will be covered up by black hexagons this includes planets surfaces.I run a GTX 1050ti, AMD Ryzen 3 X1300, 8GB RAM on Windows 10.

Hello,

Do you play on current version of the game (1.187.205)? Does it happen all the time or are there any necessary steps to reproduce it? Did you try to reinstall the game or anything else to fix it? Any additional information would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

It is the current version and happeneds modded and unmodded. It doesn't seem to have any requirements to happen as I'm aware of but seems to happen more at night then at day.

I have this issue as well, both on MP and SP. However mine don't take over the half the screen, like your screenshot shows.

My ones are only small hexagons sometimes covering particle effects or blocks, this may just be a bug how your RAM does not have enough space to display the affect or texture, And so it displays a basic black hexagon. Nothing the developers can really do anything about, unless they change the placeholder hexagon to something... more visually pleasing, if that is possible.

I generally try to close all my windows and tabs to save RAM when running Space Engineers. May I suggest the same.

This is only a theory. BTW this "bug" has been in the game for a while.

I've recently downloaded and began playing the game, and have now today run into this issue. I've tried all the DIY help options listed here and on the Steam forums to no avail. Methods include updating config file, deleting ShaderCache2 file, restarting machine and program, verifying all drivers up updated on Windows 10 platform, and cursing quietly.

I can start the game up, load a world (either single player, unmodded or modded OR multiplayer) and when I leave a door or spawn a new item/die-respawn, everything except the skybox goes solid black. During the "working" portion of a new start, there are several black polygons on far-off moons/asteroids as well. This is a new issue as of today 11/09/2018 with no changes to hardware or settings. The game had been running really well up until now.

I have solved this problem on my pc by going out and getting a new graphics card 1050 TI. I know it's a bit pricey but I it s what has to be done. I got gforce 1050ti at best buy for about $120 + $60 to upgrade power because at this point why not. Works like a dream now with no lag runs rely smoth but same cant be said for wifi well that's another problem for another day. It's well worth the investment it will boost your pc in every aspect

I use a GTX 1070, but still experience this issue. Granted, it's not as severe as in the screenshot, but it's still present. A new GPU is not the solution.

Well, everything works until planets come into play. Then the black hexagons appear.

Also, pink lights look to be related so could be a lighting issue.

This happens to me when i play the game fore more than 10 minutes they start to show up, but it seems that if you use a different version before the graphics overhaul, they seem to go away.

I have the same issue here. Did this get a fix? I've followed all the troubleshooting and forum guidance I can find so far. My computer ran this game for months with out a problem and now as of two weeks ago its unplayable. The moment I spawn a planet black polygons obscure everything. Please help.

Solved with a new graphics card the new graphics from the graphics overhaul update might be too overwhelming for weak graphics cards

It’s just very disappointing considering that it worked before. It still works on an older computer I have. Now this problem is forcing me to buy a new computer since I have no idea if it’s even possible to change a graphics card in the laptop with the problem. There’s just no good reason for this.

i've seen some thing like this before, in Skyrim and Skyrim Special Edition.

though never in any other games.

it starts out as a black dot on your screen that gets bigger when you move, and sticks to any objects (including the edge off your screen)

and engulfs them in black like some kind of plague. it stops when you stop moving unless the infected object moves.

the only counter i found for when it starts, was to look away from the infected objects.

and i fixed it by swapping my graphics card from an AMD Sapphire nitro R9 390 8G to a

ASUS Dual GTX 1070 8G.

Hello, Litton!

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. Does your PC meet the requirements here? https://www.spaceengineersgame.com/system-requirements/ Is this happening all the time or at a specific moment or doing a specific thing in game? Any extra information would be a big help
