Asteroid swallowed my station

I have a station built on the surface of an irregular (aren't they all) asteroid. I returned from a voyage to find the asteroid has turned into a perfect sphere, and in the process, swallowed about 80% of my base. Everything seems to still be there. I can access the now buried cargo containers. I quit the game and reloaded and the asteroid is still a sphere.

If the game is your, I think you can disable voxel trash removal which might be the culprit in that issue.

alt-f10 >> trash removal >> Voxels :

- revert voxel materials: uncheck

- revert asterois: uncheck

The voxel trash removal was implemented in version 1.189 for game optimization but it caused many disagreement for player station getting covered and mining site refill with stone rock. It's not much documented on the web I guess it's best to ask question on keens discord about it if you want more details.

the default is over 5000m distance with 24min timer which when you are on planet is reasonable but in space you often have mining site far more distant.

I guess for the current game you might have to do some voxel hand editing.

With more technical skill you can also edit the game file to remove that asteroid, like SE toolbox.

I hope the dev can come with something better ways to solve the voxel issues like this, because this is really an annoying bug.

Good info, wasn't aware of that.

I don't think that is my issue because I had only removed a tiny bit of voxel at one corner of my station. The asteroid is now a perfect sphere which appears to contain the original volume of the asteroid. I suspect something got corrupted in the asteroid file and it reverted to the sphere. I dealt with my issue by building a new base.
