Anyone can control thrusters

Oliver Pola shared this bug 2 months ago
Solved

Other players, that shouldn't have access to my station, can control the thrusters of the station and parked ships(via connector). Probably sitting in a desk chair, bed or similar. They can switch on and set override to max, This way some trolls tried to empty all my H2 and ice.

In the meantime I think this is all related due to a change in the accssability of blocks without access control (no computers used to build):

Yield Modules, Thrusters, Landing Gear, Lights

Anyone now can control these blocks by just sitting in a desk chair of that grid (restaurant of NPC station or the like). This was different before the heavy industy update. Please have a check and rethink access control.

Hello, Oliver!

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. I'm afraid so far I have not been able to reproduce the issue except for the lights on an NPC station for example. Could you please provide a copy of a world with reliable reproduction steps to help me reproduce the issue. I seem to have access denied so must be doing something slightly different to you so would appreciate a save file and to be pointed in the right direction :)

  • You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.
  • Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Kind Regards

Here is a new empty world I just created in creative and then turned into survival (the mode actually seems not to matter).

The blue grid is supposed to be the player's grid. Everything can be controlled from control seat or desk chair.

I created a new faction "Other Faction" and added NPC dummy members and then left that faction and created a new "My Faction". The yellow grid had its ownership assigned to one member of "Other Faction". There is no peace between those two factions (seems not to matter as well). Here the player gets access denied to the control seat but can sit in the desk chair (as intended). There he can (very much not intended)

  • mess with lights
  • turn on/off the yield module
  • on/off or lock/unlock the landing gear
  • on/off the thruster and set override to max and thus drain the batteries

There is also the red grid that had its ownership assigned to space pirates. There the player gets access denied to anything. That's a behaviour I'd like to see on the yellow one.

Hello, Oliver!

That was an absolutely perfect file for reproduction and I understood it completely - I really appreciate that thank you! :) I have successfully reproduced the issue and reported it internally. Thank you again for the file and for being so quick.
