Add NPC crew dynamics

Add a special flight-seat/bedroom/workstation "Crew Quarters" block Module.

Make an NPC ammo item for the Crew Quarters Module

NPCs live and work in their space, needs oxygen/Subsistence/power

NPCs can level up over time, they require less food/liquid and can manage more modules.

Grids can only have active modules equal to the amount of NPCs available to manage them.

Different NPC types would be available Gunner/Engineer/Support Etc.

NPCs while active, drain their HP over time when managing Modules.

NPCs will require food and liquid in their Module to regenerate HP.

Having multiple NPCs of the same class could take over when others' HP is low.

NPCs could be found in NPC ships and stations as a rare resource found on-board.

NPCs can be found for hire at active NPC Ships and stations.

Players can either place NPCs down as static decoration, or use them for AMMO in crew quarters

NPC stations of all variety could be found, that need curtain resources to make their commodities, buy and sell.

NPC Animals could be made to spawn in on planets when players are near.

Plants can spawn around players on planets

Plant growth Module to grow more plants, uses plants as ammo

Animals would drop their meat on death

Meat and plant harvesting modules that use raw meat and unrefined plants as AMMO

Livestock Modules to be created that would grow more animals

Animal Nests/Dens/homes to be looted with live animals as ammo for Livestock Modules.

KEEN could add the basic features of this system with at least one iteration of each NPC/Animal/Plant, the players could mod in more diverse species of Plants/Animals

If KEEN could make the tools to make the basics of this possible in their API, we could mod more advanced foods and drinks, NPC appearances, Etc.

You miss-understand what I'm attempting to replay here. perhaps I could have worded it better, When when I saw NPC Crew Dynamics, I don't mean fix the AI in-game and I don't mean add an AI person that walks around the ship or anything. I mean for them to add a block, "something like crew quarters", where crew in this instance is an ammo item. The crew module connects to conveyer system, uses stored oxygen, food and water to keep the hp bar of your crew item ammo high. little to no animation is required here, can just be a 2x2 large grid block. For example, your ship can have a battery, some solar panels, a small reactor, and one turret, but if you want more of these modules, you must have crew to have them operational. Of-coarse, it would be optional to have it active on your server. You have several crew quarter modules, one with a tier 3 gunner which maintains 3 to 6 additional turrets, another with a tier 2 engineer which maintains 2 to 4 large reactors/batteries. they can maintain these systems so long as their HP bar is kept up, feed and water them etc.

You now have some kind of limiting factory on survival servers, that limit the amount of turrets, reactors, etc, your ship can have. No more ships covered in just turrets and guns, head to toe. instead of just limiting them in-game there would now be a meaning, to having a large ship with many turrets, etc. to encompass many crew quarters, and food/water be a limiting factor, when operating. Maintaining crew could be a fun activity, disabling ships to steal its crew could be a factor, perhaps just damaging turrets and engines then boarding the enemy ship, to securely capture their precious crew on-board, would be more advisable than just blowing the whole thing up. "try keeping life support operational for once".

As far as npc animals, I don't mean for them to be a threat, but allow them to be a food source for your crew, plants, animals, animal nests, and plants all. Not only would there be more of a reason to land on and explore planets, but they would be more beautiful to boot, instead just just a bunch of trees, you can't doing anything with. perhaps with trees, you could cut them down to gather wood or carbon, another resource to add to the economy, for fertilizer or wooden decorative elements/furniture/wooden building blocks etc. Imagine, planets being as nice and as abundant as that other games, plants and animals, just another static spawn. but just another reason to stop your buggy and loot/harvest. to take to the market, feed your own crew, or replicate in your farms.

I feel like this is a relatable topic, I made a suggestion about fixing npcs in SE after spending time in ME researching npcs between the 2 games. SE npcs are clearly broken/unfinished for a game thats fully release compared to ME npcs thats in a unfinished game. Along with removing the archaic hard code on npcs so modders can go to town on them showing what could be possible like what they did to boring drones.
