[1.187.1] Autopilot flight behavior

Starting an autopilot turns the ship in desired direction and starts to fly.

After a while, the autopilot somehow looses control over the direction and trys to fly the ship sideways. Somehow he "recgogniced" the mistake, slows the ship down and trys to turn the ship into the right direction again, but after accelerating the result is moving the ships sideways again.

I had the same thing, but it looked like the autopilot was making too robust changes to direction and always overcompensating. My solution was to turn the gyroscopes to 10%. After that it balanced out nicely and continued.

I had this autopilot problem from years now also. Can you give us some hints why it is hard to fix it?

Hmm, if the problem is caused by multithreaded physics, then fixing can be a pain.

I've stop making use of autopilot all together since years ago.

It behaves very fuel inefficient, and inside gravity it is just always a clunky feature to make use of.
