Area Welder (Tool) drops on death.

When you die you drop your area welder (should be a tool). The wiki states that tools stay in your inventory on death. Is this is a bug or is the wiki incorrect? If wiki is incorrect maybe change the wording to "starting tools and their upgrades. I hope it's a bug, I like to keep my area welder on death.
"When your engineer dies, only your tools stay in your inventory, the rest is temporarily stored in a dropped backpack."
