Momentum changing direction with turns

Okay, this one is something I see (now) with SE1 and SE2. I don't think I saw it before, which makes me wonder about code merging to simplify backend support (I hope I'm wrong, but I'm seeing bugs/behavior start to appear in SE1 that I first saw in SE2).

In this case, if you have unbalanced thrust to the sides of the ship, you can get into a strange state where your momentum turns with your ship. I just experienced it on the new release (7/27/2026) and I don't remember seeing this specific behavior prior (I could be wrong, but either way it's a physics engine issue).

To reproduce the issue, get to full speed on your ship (this is most easily reproduced in space, but I ran into it on the alien planet with atmos thrusters) and then turn the nose of the ship 90 degrees along the plane of the direction of travel. (I turn right so that the left side of the ship is facing the direction of travel) The underpowered thrust on that side (1 atmos thruster) starts to fire full blast to stop the ship. Now turn it another 90 degrees so that the rear of the ship is facing the direction of motion. It doesn't happen every time, but when the issue happens, you'll see that instead of the rear thruster stopping you since it's facing the direction of travel, the momentum and direction of travel has also turned 90 degrees and the left thruster is still the one that is trying to stop the ship. You can keep turning like this and the momentum shifts with these turns so that the left thruster is still struggling to slow the ship down

It may take a few tries to get it to happen, but once the momentum attaches to the underpowered side thruster it turns with that thruster until it manages to stop the ship. For 'underpowered side thruster', in the ship I had, it had six front and rear small atmos thrusters, two large downward ones for lift and one small atmos thruster left and right. The ship was also about 1/4 loaded in its large cargo container (small grid).

I see the exact same behavior on SE2 and with the same steps I can now duplicate it here.

Cheers.
